'Living The Dream' Video With Bradley Morris Launches January 4th, 2016 on YouTube

Bradley Morris is Living The Dream

A K&N YouTube video entitled “Living The Dream” featuring K&N LOORRS Pro4 Driver Bradley Morris will launch January 4th, 2016 at 9 am EST

Some would argue that racers are born, not made. In the early days of motorsports there were exceptional drivers, or riders, who seemed to naturally excel at going fast without any real training. These days there are schools and training camps aimed at creating racers; often from a very young age. While this could be considered making racers, it still takes a natural talent, and sometimes a lack of fear, that can’t be taught in order to really shine. Such is the case with K&N air filters sponsored racer Bradley Morris.

Bradley Morris is Living The Dream

The K&N YouTube video entitled “Living The Dream” with Bradley Morris will also be hosted on the K&N website at knfilters.com/dream

Bradley Morris began his racing career in 2008, at the age of 10, behind the wheel of a Trophy Kart. Not sure that racing would take hold, Bradley’s dad wisely bought him a used trophy kart. In his very first race Bradley finished 2nd, which is generally unheard of for a first timer and this initial result wasn’t an anomaly. Bradley’s passion for racing has propelled him into other classes, including Modified Karts, Single Buggy, Pro Buggy, Pro Lite, and for 2016 Pro4 in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series. Many would consider Bradley Morris to be truly “Living The Dream.”

On January 4th, 2016 at 9 am EST, a new youtube.com/user/KNfilters video entitled “Living The Dream” featuring K&N LOORRS Pro4 Driver Bradley Morris will make its debut. While not a true to life biographical film, this K&N video will take a fun cinematic approach showing how many of us grow up to be racers or enthusiasts. The video will open with a young Bradley Morris, played by his little brother, on Christmas Morning. Young Bradley wakes to find two RC cars under the tree for him; the K&N Edition Pro Lite Truck and a K&N Ford Mustang.

The video follows young Bradley as he discovers a talent for driving his K&N Edition Pro Lite Truck and K&N Ford Mustang radio control cars and progresses into driving real life versions of these vehicles. The K&N YouTube video entitled “Living The Dream” featuring K&N LOORRS Pro4 Driver Bradley Morris will launch January 4th, 2016 at 9 am EST. The video will also be hosted on the K&N website at knfilters.com/dream. Jane Thurmond Positively Represents K&N Air Filters at the 2015 OUSCI in Las Vegas

Jane Thurmond, and her 1964 Chevy Corvette named Scarlett

Female racer Jane Thurmond, and her 1964 Chevy Corvette named Scarlett, were chosen to represent K&N Air Filters at the 2015 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational presented by K&N

A highly anticipated invitation only race follows the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada each year. Optima Batteries, in cooperation with the Ultimate Street Car Association (USCA) puts on the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational presented by K&N Performance Air Filters. Throughout the 2015 season, the USCA promoted nine K&N sponsored nationwide Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car events as an opportunity to qualify for a highly coveted spot in the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational.

2015 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational presented by K&N

The 2015 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational presented by K&N was a bit more difficult for Jane Thurmond because her husband Greg was also competing and could not lend as much help

Female racer Jane Thurmond was chosen to represent K&N Air Filters at the 2015 OUSCI event. Jane races a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette nicknamed Scarlett. Jane and her husband originally built Scarlett as a show car, but it has morphed into a highly competitive street & track car. In 2014 Jane Thurmond earned a USCA Spirit of the Event award which got her into the K&N supported Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational for the first time. Jane had a lot resting on her shoulders going into the 2015 OUSCI, however her ability to keep calm under pressure, and her bubbly personality helped her sail through the weekend.

Jane, a mother of three, is married to Greg Thurmond who runs GTS Customs in Simi Valley, California. Jane began racing when she decided she'd had enough of waiting on the sidelines and wanted to do something more exciting. Her driving has progressed so much that she now teaches performance driving techniques to help others get into the sport. USCA events are broken into classes based on vehicle type, and skill level. However, the OUSCI does not make these distinctions and while this does make it tough for the underdogs, it did provide Jane Thurmond an opportunity to prove that she’s just as good a driver as the boys.

2015 OUSCI Autocross course

While most people got lost their first time on the 2015 OUSCI Autocross course, Jane Thurmond’s preparation paid off as she drove her way around the course flawlessly, not missing a beat

Jane Thurmond and her 1964 Chevrolet Corvette nicknamed Scarlett

Jane Thurmond and her 1964 Chevrolet Corvette nicknamed Scarlett are able to excel in the OUSCI Speed Stop Challenge as Scarlett has been equipped with an anti-lock braking system

What would make the 2015 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational presented by K&N Air Filters more difficult for Jane Thurmond was the fact that her husband Greg was also competing and would not be able to act as Jane’s trackside support. This was the first time the couple would be focusing on two separate vehicles by themselves. Luckily for Jane she isn’t new to racing and her past experience at the 2014 OUSCI, Camarillo Autocross, and the 2015 Las Vegas Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car race served her well.

Jane and fellow competitor Brandy Phillips spent over half an hour memorizing the autocross course beforehand. Luckily, the course was very similar to her hometown Camarillo Autocross set up that she races each month. So while most of the people got lost, Jane navigated her way around the autocross flawlessly, not missing a beat. She was part of the morning group and even with cold tires and poor track conditions she still managed some pretty quick track times; eventually setting her quickest laps at the end of the session.

Next up for Jane was the Speed Stop Challenge. There, competitors are tasked with navigating a portion of a short banked oval track as quickly as possible before coming to a complete stop in a 40’ stretch designated as the stop box, without going over. Jane and her 1964 Chevrolet Corvette nicknamed Scarlett are able to excel in this portion of the OUSCI as Scarlett has been equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS). Plus Jane has seemingly mastered the art of pushing her car to a precision stop.

1964 Chevy Corvette on track

Jane Thurmond hit the 2015 OUSCI road course portion of the event in her 1964 Corvette and immediately noticed that she was on track with larger, much more powerful cars

The next day, Sunday November 9th, 2015, is probably the most exciting portion of the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational event. Sunday’s competition consisted of the Hot Lap Challenge on the road course at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The event was split into four groups and Jane was slotted into the Intermediate A group. Jane hit the course that morning around 9:30 and immediately noticed that she was on track with larger, much more powerful cars. Fortunately she and Scarlett held their own and put down some quick laps in each session.

At the end of the weekend, Jane Thurmond drove Scarlett to a 66th place finish out of 90 competitors. While everyone would like to go out and win, not everyone can or ever will. In fact, Jane’s primary goal was to go out and have a great time. The simple fact that more than 25% of the field experienced mechanical issues; some of them race ending issues, while Jane and Scarlett had zero mechanical issues all weekend is cause for celebration in itself.

Jane Thurmond drove her 1964 Corvette Scarlett to a 66th place

At the end of the weekend Jane Thurmond held her own as just one of seven female competitors and drove her 1964 Corvette Scarlett to a 66th place finish out of 90 competitors

Secondly Jane wanted to do her best to represent her sponsors; and this doesn’t always have to be done in the winner’s circle. Janes electrifying personality makes her a natural when it comes to being on camera. More than once Jane Thurmond was filmed for the MAVTV coverage of the 2015 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational presented by K&N Air Filters. Plus, regardless of how she placed being one of just 7 female competitors at the 2015 OUSCI is sure to encourage more women to try their hand at racing.

Jane and her husband Greg Thurmond are one of few married couples entering autocross and pro-touring competitions together, and at the same time, against one another. Greg’s bright orange 1963 Widebody C2 Chevy Corvette, which he unveiled at the 2015 SEMA Show, has aptly been nicknamed Scar. Naming his C2 Corvette Scar both compliments Jane’s car while at the same time provoking it, and should make for a great show as Jane and Scarlett eventually go up against Greg’s GTS Customs built Widebody ‘Vette named Scar.

Dan Lewis, A Disabled Operation Iraqi Freedom Vet, Is Proud To Be Sponsored By K&N

Daniel Lewis is a disabled U.S. Army Infantry veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom

Daniel Lewis is a disabled veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and served in the U.S. Army Infantry as a driver and gunner of a M2A2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle

When Daniel Lewis, a disabled veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, was looking to customize his 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T "Blacktop Edition" the decision to install a K&N air intake 69-2526TP was a no-brainer. Dan has been working with his tuner, and primary sponsor, Red Lion Motorsports in Flagstaff, Arizona for the last nine years. The owner of Red Lion Motorsports, Ben Therrien, describes his shop as a "Real one stop shop where you can get parts for a Model A or a Ferrari." Ben Therrien is a huge proponent of K&N air filters, and has been for over 40 years. Red Lion Motorsports sells approximately 3 million performance parts and accessories from over 2500 manufacturers, but Ben is never shy to recommend K&N.

2014 Dodge Challenger RT 5.7L HEMI inspired by a P-40 Warhawk

Dan Lewis decided to use his experience in the U.S. Army Infantry and his love of military fighter planes, like the P-40 Warhawk, as inspiration for his 2014 Dodge Challenger

Early in 2015 Ben asked Dan Lewis if he wanted to represent Red Lion Motorsports (RLM) at the 2015 Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car event being held in Fontana, California. The hope was that Dan would also earn an invitation to the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational (OUSCI) event held each year after the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, Nevada. "When Ben asked if I wanted to be the next to represent RLM, of course I said yes," recalled Dan. A 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T 5.7L HEMI already packs a mean punch, but to make it a racecar it would need a few upgrades.

"The direction of the car was unclear at first," said Dan. He continued "We planned to do all the usual such as brakes, wheels, tires, exhaust, and a K&N air intake system. But we were clueless where to go from there." Dan really wanted to make his Challenger stand out from the crowd. Dan said, "I sat for days thinking of what I could do to this car to make it pop, make it different. Then it hit me." Dan Lewis decided to take his experience in the U.S. Army Infantry, as well as his love of military vehicles, and incorporate that into the build theme for his 2014 Challenger.

While serving in Iraq, Dan was the driver and gunner of a M2A2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle. Not as heavily armed as a tank, an Infantry Fighting Vehicle is a type of armored fighting vehicle used to carry infantry into battle and provide direct fire support. "Being on that vehicle made me feel alive inside and I would love to own one personally," said Dan. "Ultimately my passion is with airplanes and helicopters, like the P-51 Mustang, P-40 Warhawk, and so on. Hence the inspiration and design for my car." According to Dan "Along with being a tribute to one of the greatest fighter planes to ever blaze the sky, fight in WWII and in Pearl Harbor, it (the car) is as also a tribute to a friend and fallen brother in arms."

2014 Dodge Challenger R/T 5.7L HEMI, K&N Typhoon air intake system 69-2526TP

When Daniel Lewis, a disabled veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, wanted an air intake for his 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T 5.7L HEMI, K&N Typhoon air intake system 69-2526TP was a no-brainer

Private First Class (PFC) Robert L. Frantz, who died in combat on June 17th, 2003 in Baghdad, Iraq was Dan’s close friend and even briefly his roommate during his time in Iraq. Pointing to the door of his car, Dan said, "This is for him, his name is on the side of the passenger door as being my co-pilot, the tail number, like you see on fighter planes, is his birthday." Dan even hangs his fallen comrade’s dog tags from the rear view mirror inside his HEMI Challenger. "So with him (Robert) in the passenger seat, I feel he still ‘has my six’ and will be watching my back," said Dan.

Along with being a tribute to the P-40 Warhawk, one of the greatest fighter planes to ever blaze the sky, the car is as also dedicated to Dan’s friend and fallen brother in arms, PFC Robert L. Frantz

The 2015 Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car event being held in Fontana, California turned out to be a good experience for Dan, which is exactly what he needed. Dan was totally new to the Ultimate Street Car Association (USCA) competition format and managed a solid mid-pack finish in his class. Dan’s end goal was to qualify for the 2015 OUSCI at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and unfortunately his finish in Fontana wasn’t strong enough. While Dan may have been disappointed with his performance in Fontana, California, owner of Red Lion Motorsports Ben Therrien was not. Ben was very impressed with Dan’s finish considering it was his first time out, and that many of the other competitors have been following the Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car series since its inception.

"We have the K&N Typhoon intake 69-2526TP and K&N oil filter HP-2010," said Dan. He continued, "So along with being sponsored by Red Lion Motorsports, Hurst Performance, Falken Tire, Optima Batteries, Wilwood Disc Brakes, APR Performance, Extreme Dimensions, Hellwig Performance, StrictlyHIDs, and Hollywood Customs LLC; we have the great pleasure of being sponsored by the best company with the best filters in the business, K&N."

Upgrade 2015 & 2016 Yamaha YZF-R3 Performance with Reusable High-Flow K&N Air Filter

2015 Yamaha YZF-R3 K&N air filter

The 2015 Yamaha R3 makes peak horsepower at a high-revving 10,750 RPM and a high-flow low-restriction performance air filter from K&N, number YA-3215, can help improve YZF-R3 performance

For years the only sport inspired motorcycles offered in the U.S. less than 600 cubic centimeters were the small Ninja 250 and 500 models from Kawasaki. This was quite a departure from 40-50 years back when Japan began exporting motorcycles to the U.S. Back then, manufacturers like the Honda Motor Company produced small displacement motorcycles which appealed to, and could be purchased by, young first-time riders. Over time though, Japanese motorcycles evolved into very specialized machines, full of technology, and with oodles of power on tap.

The Kawasaki Ninja 250R was originally introduced by Kawasaki in 1983 and went basically unchanged for 25 years. But the fully redesigned 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R, and subsequent Ninja 300 replacement, seemed to light a fuse within the motorcycling community and there became an exponential increase in demand for entry level sportbikes. Soon all the major Japanese motorcycle manufacturers began to fight for a piece of the pie. Better late than never, the Yamaha Motor Company introduced the Yamaha YZF-R3 to U.S. consumers for the 2015 model year.

2015 K&N Yamaha YZF-R3 replacment Air Filter Flow Chart

K&N’s in-house air filter filtration efficiency testing, following the ISO 5011 protocol, ensures that K&N replacement air filters provide high airflow without sacrificing engine protection

The 2015 and 2016 Yamaha YZF-R3 packs a punch in a relatively small and affordable package. Powered by a 321 cc liquid-cooled and fuel-injected parallel twin engine, the 2015 Yamaha R3 makes peak horsepower at a high-revving 10,750 RPM. Considering the fact that internal combustion engines are essentially a giant air pump, anything that can be done to eliminate restrictions on the intake and / or the exhaust will improve performance. With that in mind it would only seem logical to upgrade your 2015 Yamaha YZF-R3 with a high-flow low-restriction performance air filter from K&N.

Improve 2015 & 2016 Yamaha YZF-R3 performance with K&N air filter

K&N 2015 & 2016 Yamaha YZF-R3 replacement air filter YA-3215 is designed to install just like the factory air filter without any need for modifications or fuel management changes

A K&N high-flow replacement air filter is different from the factory or standard replacement air filter in that K&N uses cotton gauze filter media woven to exacting specifications. Cotton, by nature, is more breathable than the paper or foam media used for most motorcycle air filters. The ability to get more air into an engine with less energy wasted on drawing in air can result in improved performance, quicker acceleration, and better throttle response. Fortunately K&N’s in-house air filter filtration efficiency testing, following the ISO 5011 protocol, ensures that K&N replacement air filters can provide high airflow without sacrificing engine protection.

Besides improved performance, a K&N replacement air filter offers years of reusability. The cotton air filter media and sturdy construction of K&N replacement air filters allow them to be washed and reused time and again. Most K&N replacement air filters are designed to install just like the factory air filter and without any need for modifications or fuel management changes. Plus K&N air filters are backed by a 10-year/million mile limited warranty and will pay for themselves over time.

K&N 2015 Yamaha YZF-R3 replacement air filter YA-3215 is designed to fit and function in the following Yamaha motorcycles:

2016 YAMAHA YZF R3
2016 YAMAHA MT03
2015 YAMAHA YZF R3

K&N 2015 Yamaha YZF-R3 replacement air filter YA-3215 is designed as a direct air filter cross reference to the following manufacturers’ part number:

BMC Air Filters FM5282001
Yamaha 1WDE44510000

K&N Drycharger Is Perfect Companion To K&N Yamaha YZF, KTM, & Husky K&N Air Filter

K&N air filter Drycharger2007-15 KTM & Husky Motorcycles

K&N Drycharger, number KT-4511DK, is designed for a perfect fit over K&N replacement air filter KT-4511XD for many 2007-2015 KTM and Husqvarna off-road motorcycles and MX bikes

Gavin Gracyk, and the entire Team Faith Racing crew, rely on K&N air and oil filters

K&N engineers place filtration efficiency and dirt retention at the top of the priority list when developing motocross, off-road, and enduro air filters

Proper off-road motorcycle maintenance should include checking and cleaning a K&N air filter as necessary, however, a K&N Drycharger® air filter wrap can help extend cleaning intervals. A K&N Drycharger is designed to provide an extra barrier of protection for K&N air filters, yet add minimal airflow restriction. A K&N Drycharger air filter wrap covers a K&N air filter in a durable polyester material containing uniform micron openings. K&N Drycharger air filter wraps extend K&N air filter service intervals by preventing larger dirt particles from becoming trapped in the air filter’s pleats.

A K&N Drycharger air filter wrap is pre-treated with a proprietary hydrophobic process designed to prevent splashes of water or mud from saturating a K&N air filter. Depending on conditions, and usage, the water repellent treatment is good for 1 to 2 years. K&N Drycharger air filter pre-filter wraps are custom made to fit specific K&N air filters for an excellent fit. K&N Drycharger air filter wraps are meant to be run dry and can be cleaned with K&N Power Kleen air filter cleaner. The ability to run a K&N pre-filter on an off-road or motocross bike means owners can go longer before cleaning is needed without sacrificing performance.

K&N Drycharger YA-4514DK, will offer a precision fit over K&N replacement air filter YA-4514XD for 2014, 2015, & 2016 Yamaha YZ450F and YZ250F motocross bikes

K&N Drycharger KT-4511DK, is designed for a perfect fit over K&N replacement air filter KT-4511XD for many 2007-2015 KTM and Husqvarna off-road motorcycles and MX bikes. Another K&N Drycharger YA-4514DK, will also offer a precision fit over K&N replacement air filter YA-4514XD. Just because K&N offers a Drycharger pre-filter wrap, doesn’t mean that a K&N air filter can’t provide the required air filtration/engine protection.

In fact, K&N engineers place filtration efficiency and dirt retention at the top of the priority list when developing K&N motocross, off-road, and enduro air filters. K&N knows that these bikes will be operated in some of the most extreme conditions on the planet. This is why K&N paid extra special attention to the design of KTM replacement K&N air filter KT-4511XD, and Yamaha MX replacement air filter YA-4514XD. K&N uses multiple layers of special tight weave cotton gauze “XD media” sandwiched between wire mesh to form extra deep 1-1/4” pleats for high efficiency and high capacity.

K&N Drycharger pre-filter wraps are available wherever K&N performance filters are sold. Find an authorized K&N dealer nearby using the K&N Dealer Search.
