The fifth-generation Ford Mustang received a makeover for the 2010 model year. Although the 4.0L Cologne V6 and 4.6L modular V8 were carried over from the 2005-2009 Ford Mustang, changes to the exterior and interior meant K&N needed to design new air intake systems for 2010 Ford Mustang models. However, Ford introduced a new 3.7L Duratec V6 and the 5.0L V8 Coyote Motor for the 2011 Ford Mustang. This makes the 2010 Ford Mustang an oddball in Mustang history and perhaps one day it might even be a rare collectable.

What many owners of 2010 Ford Mustang models are probably upset with is the huge increase in horsepower the Mustang received in 2011. 2010 Ford Mustang 4.0L V6 owners seeking a street legal boost in horsepower should look to K&N air intake 57-2577. For 2010 Ford Mustang 4.0L V6 models, an oversized K&N high-flow air filter RC-4381 is clamped to the end of a custom engineered rotationally molded HDPE air intake tube. An application specific air filter heat shield is included with the 2010 Ford Mustang 4.0L V6 air intake to help deflect engine heat away from the air filter. All of the design features of a K&N performance air intake system work together to deliver increased performance by increasing the amount of airflow available to the engine, reducing air intake tract restriction and straightening the airflow for less turbulence.

On the dyno, K&N 2010 Ford Mustang 4.0L air intake 57-2577 produced an estimated additional 7.4 horsepower at 7700 rpm and an equally beneficial 8.27 pound-feet of torque over the factory air intake ducting and air filter box of an otherwise stock 2010 Ford Mustang 4.0L V6. Increased horsepower and torque will increase acceleration and the elimination of the stock air intake baffling will improve 2010 Ford Mustang 4.0L V6 engine sound. More horsepower will improve the overall driving experience especially when accelerating onto a highway, passing a big rig, or going uphill.

K&N performance air intake systems include a world famous K&N washable and reusable high-flow air filter. The oversized and pleated design of a K&N air filter, such as RC-4381, is designed to provide a large surface area. As a result a K&N air intake system’s K&N air filter can go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. When it does come time to service the K&N air filter, a readily available K&N Recharger air filter service kit will restore the filter to like-new performance.

With simple to follow instructions and no need to make any other modifications to your 2010 Ford Mustang 4.0L V6, you’ll be on the road in approximately 90 minutes with more street legal horsepower under your right foot. If all that weren’t enough, K&N backs the 57-2577 2010 Ford Mustang 4.0L V6 air intake system with a 10-year/million mile limited warranty. K&N air intake system 57-2577 is engineered to provide a guaranteed increase in horsepower for the following Ford Mustang models:

Street Legal K&N Air Intake Performance Upgrade Boosts Turbocharged 2008-2010 Chevy HHR SS 2.0L

K&N 2008-2010 Chevy HHR SS 2.0L turbo air intake

The K&N 2008-2010 Chevy HHR SS 2.0L turbo air intake retains the lower half of the stock air box to act as a heat shield for the oversized conical air filter and molded HDPE air intake tube

The Chevrolet HHR (Heritage High Roof) is a retro-styled compact station wagon inspired by mid-1940’s panel trucks, such as the Chevrolet Suburban. Bryan Nesbitt is credited with the design of the Chevy HHR. Bryan was also a former Chrysler designer and was the lead designer on the Chrysler PT Cruiser. This would explain the similarities between the two cars, and why the Chevy HHR is jokingly referred to as the second generation PT Cruiser.

Chevy high performance version of the HHR and 2008-2010 Chevy HHR SS can experience a boost in performance

Chevy offered a high performance version of the HHR and 2008-2010 Chevrolet HHR SS 2.0L turbo models can experience a boost in performance that is street legal in all 50 states

The PT Cruiser shared its platform with the Dodge Neon, and at one point also borrowed the turbocharged engine from the Neon SRT-4. Keeping with tradition, Chevrolet released a high-performance variant of the HHR that wore the SS badge and was powered by a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four borrowed from the Chevy Cobalt SS. The HHR’s 2.0L turbo engine was rated at 260 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque from the factory. However, a sport compact retro wagon like the HHR is deserving of a boost in performance. One of the best performance upgrades for the money is a K&N air intake system.

K&N stuffed an oversize conical air filter inside the stock air box which also takes advantage of the factory cold air inlet

K&N stuffed an oversize conical air filter inside the stock air box which also takes advantage of the factory cold air inlet

The K&N performance air intake system 57-3069 for 2008-2010 Chevy HHR SS 2.0L turbo models retains the bottom half of the stock air filter box to make use of limited space, act as a heat shield, and retain the use of the stock cold air inlet. An oversized K&N high-flow air filter is stuffed inside the stock air filter box, and a new K&N air box lid is included with the 2008-2010 Chevrolet HHR SS 2.0L air intake system to make room for the superior airflow and superior performance of a K&N washable air filter.

K&N 2008-2010 Chevy HHR SS air intake was shown to free up an estimated additional 9.4 horsepower

The K&N 2008-2010 Chevy HHR SS air intake was shown to free up an estimated additional 9.4 horsepower on this already fun-to-drive turbo sport compact

To further reduce airflow restriction and turbulence, K&N designed a rotationally molded high-density polyethylene (HDPE) air intake tube to direct the airflow from the large K&N air filter into the HHR’s turbocharger. The molded HDPE air intake tube has a smooth internal surface for reduced airflow turbulence and the molded design allows K&N engineers to make use of limited space under the hood. Reducing restriction and straightening airflow allows the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Chevy HHR SS 2.0L turbo engine to breathe easier. Reducing the amount of energy wasted on breathing allows the engine to put more power to the ground.

K&N performs in-house dyno testing to guarantee that its intakes will provide an increase in horsepower. Tests show that the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Chevrolet HHR SS 2.0L turbo air intake produced an impressive estimated 9.4 horsepower and an equally beneficial 9.74 lb-ft increase of torque at the front wheels of a 2008 Chevrolet HHR 2.0L. An increase in power isn’t just for NASCAR; it’s for your car. The superior airflow and superior performance of a K&N performance air intake can be used even during average driving situations; such as merging onto a highway or passing a big-rig.

K&N high-flow air filters are washable and reusable. They can be washed time and again without any degradation in performance by using a K&N Recharger air filter service kit. The reusability of a K&N washable air filter makes the K&N 2008-2010 Chevy HHR SS 2.0L air intake system an even smarter buy. K&N high-flow air filters and K&N performance air intake systems are backed by a 10-year/million mile limited warranty. Furthermore, K&N air intakes bought and installed in the U.S.A are guaranteed to provide an increase in horsepower and if a warranty department tries to deny a claim or blame the presence of a K&N product, K&N will step-in and resolve the issue

K&N air intake 57-3069 will add a 50-state street legal performance upgrade to the following Chevy HHR models:

2010 Chevrolet HHR 2.0L L4
2009 Chevrolet HHR 2.0L L4
2008 Chevrolet HHR 2.0L L4

K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge Winner Erica Enders-Stevens Voted Racer of the Year

Enders-Stevens amassed 6 NHRA Pro Stock race wins during 2014, and won the 2014 K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Enders-Stevens amassed 6 NHRA Pro Stock race wins during 2014, and she also won the 2014 K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Erica Enders-Stevens defeated fan-vote winner Dave Connolly to become the first female winner in K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge history

Erica Enders-Stevens defeated fan-vote winner Dave Connolly in the final to become the first female winner in the history of the K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge

Readers of Racer magazine have been casting their votes for overall Racer of the Year since 1995, and for the first time in the history of the award a female racer has been chosen. Having clinched the 2014 NHRA Pro Stock championship Erica Enders-Stevens is the hottest driver in NHRA Pro Stock drag racing right now. It comes as little surprise that she would have been voted Drag Racer of the Year by readers of Racer magazine. However, it was her commanding margin of victory for overall Racer of the Year over veteran racers John Force, Kevin Harvick, and Lewis Hamilton, among others, that caught Racer magazine by surprise.

Erica Enders-Stevens had an amazing 2014 NHRA Pro Stock season. Enders-Stevens amassed 6 NHRA Pro Stock race wins during 2014, and along the way she also won the 2014 K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge pits eight of the best NHRA Pro Stock drivers in a three-round shootout with the winner taking home $50,000. Erica Enders-Stevens was an alternate filling in for Mike Edwards, and she ended the day with two trips to the winner’s circle. Not only did Mrs. Enders-Stevens enjoy a winning 2014 NHRA Pro Stock season but she was also successful at setting NHRA Pro Stock speed and elapsed time records.

Enders-Stevens collected a $25,000 “double-up” bonus from NHRA

Enders-Stevens, driver of the Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro, collected a $25,000 “double-up” bonus from NHRA due to also winning the NHRA Pro Stock race

Erica Enders-Stevens was quoted as saying “I have an awesome team – owner Richard Freeman, crew chiefs Rick and Rickie Jones, engine guys Jake Hairston and Nick Ferri, and the rest of our extended crew at Elite. We always say 'team work makes the dream work' and that team work allowed us to win six races and the K&N Horsepower Challenge.”

Based upon Erica’s 2014 season it’s not much of a surprise that she would become Drag Racer of the Year. In fact, according to the stats released on Racer.com, Erica Enders-Stevens ran away with the Drag Racer of the Year fan votes with a landslide victory. What was surprising, is that Enders-Stevens’ winning streak carried over into the overall Racer of the Year vote where she earned nearly 50% of all votes. Her next closest competitor for overall Racer of the Year was John Force with a mere 9.7% of Racer magazine readers voting for him. This award makes Erica Enders-Stevens the first woman in history to clinch the NHRA Pro Stock championship, the first female overall Racer of the Year, and the first woman to win the K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge bonus race.

The 2014 K&N Horsepower Challenge Sweepstakes finalist was paired with Enders-Stevens and took home the 2014 K&N HPC Custom Toyota Tacoma

Anne Perkins, a 2014 K&N Horsepower Challenge Sweepstakes finalist, was paired with Enders-Stevens and took home the one-of-a-kind 2014 K&N HPC Custom Toyota Tacoma

Of her Racer of the Year title, Erica Enders-Stevens said “No woman had ever won the NHRA Pro Stock title – nor the RACER of the Year award! – so I'm humbled to be the first. I always wanted to be thought of as a racer, not just a 'female racer,' but I recognize my place in history – even though sometimes I don't believe it!”

K&N is excited to see what the 2015 NHRA Pro Stock season has in store for Erica Enders-Stevens. The 2015 K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge is quickly approaching with the special bonus event to take place during the 2015 SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals to be held on April 11th, 2015 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It will be exciting to see if Erica Enders-Stevens is able to win a second K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge. For the last six years K&N air filters has run a sweepstakes in which eight finalists are chosen at random and awarded a Prize Trip Package to include travel expenses and hotel accommodations for two in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the event each finalist is randomly paired with one of the eight K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge professional NHRA Pro-Stock drivers. A grand prize winner will be determined based upon the finalist who is paired with the professional NHRA Pro-Stock driver that finishes first in the K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge.

General Motors (GM) shares its full-size 1500 pickup truck and SUV platform as well as engines across many of its brands. During air intake development K&N has found that a single air intake will also fit these full-size trucks and SUVs across each applicable make. K&N offers a 50-state street legal performance upgrade for 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac Escalade ESV, Cadillac Escalade EXT, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon, and GMC Yukon XL models with any one of several corporate 4.8L, 5.3L, or 6.2L V8 engines.

The 2009-2014 GM full-size 1500 pickup or SUV V8 air intake from K&N is engineered for a guaranteed increase in horsepower as well as better engine sound. A K&N performance air intake, like the one for 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 GMC Sierra, or Cadillac Escalade V8 models, replaces the restrictive factory system with a free-flowing, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) air intake tube to help minimize restriction, while also straightening, and increasing available airflow to the engine. Less restriction and turbulence can result in better power delivery across the engine’s RPM range for an improved driving experience.

Completely Redesigned 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 5.0L V8 Upgraded with K&N Air Intake System

K&N 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 5.0L aluminum air intake system reduces restriction and increases airflow for more power

K&N 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 5.0L aluminum air intake system reduces restriction and increases airflow for more power

For over 30 years the Ford F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in the United States. The Ford Motor Company continues to stay ahead of its competition with continuous improvements and a new generation Ford 150 is debuted about every five years. This is impressive as even the Ford Mustang goes longer between major updates. Ford has released the thirteenth generation F-150 for the 2015 model year. The beauty of the 2015 Ford F-150 is skin deep, with all-aluminum body panels, as well as a new frame made of 77% high-strength steel. The aluminum and high-strength steel have helped the 2015 F-150 shed up to 750 lbs. Less weight means higher payload and towing capacities, more miles per gallon, and a better power to weight ratio. Performance minded drivers know that less weight and more power combine to increase the rate of acceleration.

The 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 has shed up to 750 lbs and less weight combined with more power from a K&N air intake system will increase the rate of acceleration

The 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 has shed up to 750 lbs and less weight combined with more power from a K&N air intake system will increase the rate of acceleration

K&N can help the lighter 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 with a 5.0L V8 engine with a boost in horsepower and torque for improved towing performance and better acceleration. An air intake system, like one from K&N, is designed to increase power by significantly reducing air intake tract restriction and increasing the amount of air available to the engine. Reducing the amount of power wasted on drawing air into the engine can translate into more power where it counts; at the wheels. K&N has wasted no time in developing an air intake 77-2591KP for the 2015 and 2016 Ford F150 5.0L V8. K&N has focused on speed to market with its 2015 and 2016 Ford F150 5.0 L air intake systems, but due to K&N’s expertise in superior airflow and superior performance quality and performance does not suffer.

The K&N 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 5.0L air intake system reduces restriction and increases airflow in two basic ways. First, the stock air filter box is a major point of restriction in most new cars or trucks, and K&N has replaced the 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 5.0L air filter box with an open oversized K&N high-flow air filter. Due to the use of high-flow cotton air filter media a K&N clamp-on air filter can provide more than enough airflow. The over-sized and pleated design results in a large surface area which helps a K&N clamp-on air filter go up to 100,000 miles of typical highway driving before service is needed. When it does come time to service a K&N washable air filter, a K&N Recharger kit will make a K&N air filter like new.

A mandrel-bent aluminum air intake tube is the second way K&N air intake 77-2591KP improves power of 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 5.0L models. By replacing the accordion flex hose used in the stock air intake system with a smooth walled and gently curved aluminum air intake tube the K&N 2015 and 2016 Ford F150 5.0L air intake system is able to reduce restriction and straighten airflow. Less turbulent airflow can result in more efficient combustion and increased power. An application specific air filter heat shield is included with the K&N 2015 Ford F-150 5.0L air intake and is intended to deflect engine heat away from the air filter promoting a cooler, denser, charge of incoming air.

All the features of the K&N 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 5.0L air intake system are designed to increase real world horsepower and torque delivery. The improvements in power that come from installing K&N air intake 77-2591KP will be immediately evident along with the improved engine sound. However, to prove that a K&N air intake system is more than snake-oil, K&N performs in-house dynamometer testing to guarantee that K&N air intake systems will provide an increase in horsepower. By establishing base horsepower numbers on a 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 5.0L before installing a K&N air intake, and then repeating the test after the installation K&N can prove the superior airflow and superior performance of its products. When installed on an otherwise stock 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 5.0L, K&N air intake 77-2591KP produced an estimated gain of 13.86 horsepower at 4,553 RPM. Improvements in torque were also seen with the max estimated torque gain of 15.13 lb-ft occurring at 3,731 RPM. K&N is so confident in its cold air intake systems that it offers a K&N air intake Horsepower Guarantee.

In addition to a guaranteed increase in horsepower, K&N backs its air filters and air intake systems with a 10-year/million mile limited warranty. K&N is confident in its products because each one will undergo rigorous testing in both laboratory and real world situations. Additionally, K&N will warrant that using our products will not result in a vehicle warranty denial.
