The full-size pickup truck market isn’t just about horsepower and towing capabilities anymore. To be competitive, manufacturers must offer fuel-efficiency as well as power, refined interiors with modern-day technology, and wrap it all up in a platform that performs well on-road as well as off-road. It has to be the complete package. Some might think this isn’t doable, but General Motors has come out swinging and is fighting to win with the fully-redesigned 2014-2017 Chevrolet Silverado, Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, and their brethren the GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon and GMC Yukon XL. These trucks hit all the checkboxes of power, fuel efficiency, towing capability, refinement, and technology. However, installing the K&N 63-3082 Aircharger performance air intake system can take these trucks to the next level and further distance them from the competition.

The 63-3082 performance air intake system is expert-engineered and guaranteed to increase horsepower and torque. It replaces the restrictive factory system with a free-flowing, high-density polyethylene air intake tube to help minimize restriction, straighten, and increase airflow to the engine. More air means more usable power throughout the engine’s RPM range. K&N’s RF-1041 conical air filter is fitted to the inlet of the system to provide excellent airflow rates as well as outstanding filtration efficiency. The air filter is washable and reusable and can go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. K&N 63-3082 incorporates a heat shield which helps to allow cooler air to enter the engine.

Excellent design won’t get you very far in the truck world if the design doesn’t produce a measureable result. The K&N 63-3082 performance air intake system puts down impressive performance gains in horsepower and torque. On the dyno, when installed on a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3 liter V8 truck, the 63-3082 performance air intake system produced an estimated additional 10.6 horsepower at 5341 rpm and 8.4 pound-feet of torque at 4391 rpm. When installed on a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3 liter V8, the 63-3082 performance air intake system produced an estimated additional 15.3 horsepower at 5341 rpm and 21.2 pound-feet of torque at 4390 rpm.

The 63-3082 performance air intake system is an easy to install performance upgrade that can be installed in about 90 minutes or less using basic hand tools, and by following K&N’s simple step-by-step instructions. It maintains all necessary factory connections and does not require any additional modifications be made to the vehicle. K&N backs the 63-3082 with the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty so owners can rest assured that their intake system can stand up to tough conditions.

Whether your 2014, 2015, 2016, or 2017 Chevy or GMC is used as a reliable daily driver or a dedicated workhorse, the K&N 63-3082 Aircharger air intake system will provide durable and reliable increased performance for years to come.

Greg Pursley was looking to repeat as the winner of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Kern County Raceway Park in California.

Davie Mayhew was looking to win his third K&N Pro Series West race in a row.

In the end, the drivers battled for the checkered flag with a spun out car determining the winner.

Pursley won the race, passing a spun out car in the waning laps of the race. Mayhew was challenging Pursley for the lead, but had to hit the brakes to avoid Bill Kann’s spun out car.

Pursley led the final four laps of the race and won his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race of the season. Mayhew rallied for a third-place finish despite the late evasive maneuvers.

Pursley took advantage of a caution period with 14 laps to go in the Armed Forces 150 to take the lead from Mayhew and eventually win the race.

When the race resumed with eight laps to go, Pursley and Mayhew ran together before having to make adjustments when Kann’s car spun out.

“It was a good battle with Mayhew again,” said Pursley, the driver for Gene Price Motorsports. “It’s inevitable that you always get a couple of cautions there at the end. We did get a caution there with 10 to go. I thought we were going to get him there on the bottom.”

Mayhew said he was baffled that a yellow flag didn’t come out when Kann spun his car out.

“It was kind of a no-brainer in my eyes that it should have been a caution,” Mayhew said. “You should never have to race through something like that and have that determine the outcome of the race. We had the fastest car.”

Pursley was a little surprised a caution flag wasn’t brought out and said he was fortunate to win the race.

“We were side by side. I pulled on him a little bit, side by side,” Pursley said. “There was a car that spun out up in two. They didn’t call the yellow. He went up to the top, checked up. I went to the bottom and got by him. They didn’t call the yellow and we got about a four-car length lead on that and got the checkered flag.”

Dylan Lupton crossed the finish line in second place, his best finish of the season.

“A lot of things worked in our favor tonight and we capitalized,” Lupton said. “We tried to stay on the outside all night on the restarts and that worked out for us and then the thing at the end with Mayhew let us get up into second.”

Pursley won the 19th NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race of his career. He leads the K&N Pro Series West standings by 18 points over Mayhew.

Purlsey is tied with Bill Schmitt for seventh place on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West career win list. He won the pole for the race, the 18th of his K&N Pro Series West career.

“To get the first win of this year here, it’s a great feeling,” Pursley said. “Hopefully it will start us off for some more this season.”

The next K&N Pro Series West race is the Carneros 200 at Sonoma Raceway in California on June 21.

Ben Rhodes won his second race of the season in the first NASCAR K&N Pro Series combination race of the season.

Rhodes led a pack of eight drivers from the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in the Casey’s General Store 150 at Iowa Speedway. The race pitted drivers and teams from both the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West.

The top-eight drivers in the race at Iowa Speedway were from the K&N Pro Series East.

David Mayhew was the top-finishing driver from the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West and also credited with a win.

Rhodes took the lead from pole winner Brodie Kostecki on lap 36 and led the final 115 laps of the race.

“It just had speed. I don’t know. I think the track really came to us there at the end,” said Rhodes, a 17-year-old junior in high school. “The sun went down and it just came to us. All day long we were struggling with grip, struggling with tires and how slick the track was.”

Rhodes also won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series race at Greenville Pickens Speedway in South Carolina in March.

He extended his lead in the K&N Pro Series East standings to 38 points over Cameron Hayley. Gray Gaulding is third in the K&N Pro Series East standings, one point behind Hayley.

“We had a fast car,” Rhodes said. “It’s hard to say because I don’t know if we had that much a better car or if other people were just struggling. It was close to where I wanted it, but it wasn’t perfect.”

Rookie Nick Drake crossed the finish line in second place. It was the best finish of his K&N Pro Series career. He was third at the NASCAR K&N Pro Series race at Richmond International Raceway in April.

“I think we’re headed in the right direction with the third at Richmond and then coming here and running second,” Drake said. “It was a good night.”

Scott Heckert also posted the best finish of his K&N Pro Series East career in third place. His previous best finish was seventh place at Road Atlanta Racetrack in Georgia.

“The car was really good,” Heckert said. “I thought we had a chance at the win there. We were fighting with Ben Rhodes and thought maybe we were a little quicker than him. Just burning off a little bit, started to get a little loose at the end. Just rode there and came home with a good finish.”

Mayhew finished ninth overall and won his second K&N Pro Series West race in a row. He also won the K&N Pro Series West race at Stockton 99 Speedway in California earlier this month.

“We played it safe,” Mayhew said. “We knew we didn’t have the car to win tonight, but wanted to bring it home in one piece.”

Greg Pursley was 12th overall and the second place driver from the K&N Pro Series West. He has a 12-point lead over Mayhew in the K&N Pro Series West standings. Dylan Lupton is third in the K&N Pro Series West standings, two points behind Mayhew.

The next NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race is the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 at Bowman Gray Stadium in North Carolina on May 31. The next NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race is the Armed Forces 150 at Kern County Raceway Park in California on May 24.

More Horsepower and Torque for 2012 Cadillac CTS V6 Models with K&N Air Intake System

K&N Air Intake under the hood of 2012 Cadillac CTS V6

K&N Air Intake under the hood of 2012 Cadillac CTS V6

“Art and Science” was the driving philosophy behind the revamp of Cadillac in the early 2000’s, and they are running full throttle today with no sign of letting off. The CTS was one of the first models to embody this new theme for Cadillac, incorporating sharp lines and cutting-edge technology into a beautiful vehicle inside and out. The 2012 Cadillac CTS boasts powerful 3.0 and 3.6 liter V6 engine options, rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, manual or automatic transmissions, and interiors with tasteful trims which match the crisp edges of the exterior. When it comes to upgrading a CTS any old part won’t do. A performance part for the CTS has to match the themes of art and science, and providing one without the other would be a huge disservice. Owners of the 2012 Cadillac CTS can have a stylish increase in performance with the K&N 69-4527TS Typhoon performance air intake system.

The RC-2960XD filter is washable and reusable and can go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. Also, a heat shield shrouds the RC-2960XD air filter to help protect air entering the engine from radiant heat under the hood.
