K&N's Steve Gibson is Elected to North American Council of Automotive Teachers Board of Directors
Every summer, Automotive Technology instructors from across North America gather together during the third week of July to receive training on new technologies, methods to improve their curriculum, and creative ways to keep their students interested and engaged in the classroom. This annual conference is organized by the North American Council of Automotive Teachers, Inc. (NACAT), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the open exchange of information among teachers and the automotive industry, training, student involvement, and fellowship among its members.
The NACAT conference is held in a new location each year, to allow instructors from different geographic areas the ability to attend a conference without the need to travel long distances.
NACAT is organized and run through a volunteer process. NACAT members serve as President, Vice President/President-Elect, Treasurer, as well as a Board of Directors who provide direction for NACAT as an organization. This year, at the 40th annual NACAT Conference in Québec, K&N Engineering's Steve Gibson was elected to fill a vacancy on the NACAT Board.
"I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to serve on the NACAT Board" said Gibson. "The average age of an automotive technician is over 45 years old. It's important that we keep students interested and engaged in automotive technology. When our current technicians retire, we need to have skilled people ready to take their place. This is also true for the other segments of the automotive industry like manufacturing and parts. I feel honored to be elected by my peers to represent them on the Board and to give these topics a voice. It's a huge investment in the future of the industry."
Gibson has participated in the NACAT Conference as a training provider since 2009. In 2014, the NACAT Conference returns to the United States, being hosted at Greenville Technical College in Greenville, South Carolina. "The 2013 NACAT Conference set the bar high" said Gibson. "The team at Greenville has a tough job, but I know they can pull it off, and create an experience for our instructors which is unique and full of great information."

The range of graphic design services includes identity, print design, web development, apparel, and photography. Since its origin Bink Designs has evolved, from winning several photography awards and honors to securing an expanded racing clientele.
Throughout his exciting career journey, Binkert has cherished his partnership with K&N Engineering. "Ryan Fellman of K&N had caught wind of me through social Media and now we are growing our relationship," said Binkert.
When Fiat originally came out with the 500, they gained a lot of attention for the compact size, European styling and decent fuel economy. However with only being rated at 101 horsepower, it left much to be desired in the performance department. Well Fiat decided to spice things up quite a bit with the release of the 2012 and 2013 500 Abarth 1.4 Liter Turbo. Since joining the team we have been able to accomplish many things that I dreamed about as a young racer," said Allard. "The Williams team and I are looking forward this year to heading out to Knoxville Nationals and running up front in the biggest sprint car race in the world."
Listed on his long resume of racing accomplishments, Jonathan Allard earned several Championship titles including Golden State Challenge, International Series 2010 and 2011, North Island Title 2010 and 2012, and New Zealand Title 2011. Jonathan Allard's Sprint Car Rookie titles include Marysville Speedway, Golden State Challenge Series, Silver Dollar Speedway, and Short Track Nationals.
"Learning the business of racing has been a rewarding but lengthy process," said Allard. "I look forward to continue growing in the sport and put in a few more great years."

The candy pink exterior paint of Lina Rodriguez's 2004 Mazda RX-8 demands your attention no matter where it's at.
Going to car shows you will soon notice that it's primarily a boy's game. Very few ladies have been able to break the ice and be serious contenders. What does it take to be a female, get into the car game, really make a mark and make all the boys look? Lina Rodriguez obviously knows what it takes to break the necks of the competition at a car show.
This custom Mazda RX-8, owned by Lina Rodriguez, has won several "Best Paint" Awards.
Lina Rodriguez started out with a 2004 Mazda RX-8. She added a Veilside lip kit, lowered the car 4.5" and added 18" XXR wheels to set the perfect stance. Lina likes to get her hands dirty and does a lot of the work herself. When it comes to routine maintenance on her 2004 Mazda RX-8, she chooses to do it all herself. When it came time to choose the perfect air intake for her rotary motor, she chose K&N's Mazda RX-8 air intake 69-6030-1TFK, because as she puts it, "it looks sick, and makes good horsepower."

When I asked Lina what proved to be the most challenging part about customizing her Mazda RX-8, she said, "The Paint." Even though her family owns a Autobody shop, this was a difficult task because she wanted the perfect color to make a statement in the car show scene. Even to a trained car show judge it could take hours to find a single flaw on this paint job and it has earned her several "Best Paint" Awards.

Lets face it, it's a girls show car, and as most men know that women think differently than men, but from the looks of this car, Lina Rodriguez pays close attention to detail. I later asked Lina Rodriguez why she chose a K&N Mazda RX-8 air intake system. "Besides the main goal, which is to obtain better performance and wanting quicker acceleration from the starting point, I truly like the amount of heads it turns once I floor it," she explained. "I feel that rotaries should be loud and the newer the car the quieter they seem to become. Adding the K&N intake to my car has been one of the best modifications I've done to my RX-8. You get a great amount of horsepower and it makes my driving more fun".
