Some people are just “born into it,” as they say. Son of NHRA racer Gary Scelzi, baby Dominic was along for the ride since he was three months old until his father stepped out from behind the wheel 11 years later. “I basically grew up in the pits,” Dominic recounted. “We had a Motorhome where we stayed in at the track.”
Passing on the love of going fast to his then six-year-old son, father Gary purchased the boy a GoKart. Within weeks, young Dominic missed only one race of his first racing season, winning all 7 races he competed in, earning the young prodigy the class championship.
Racer Dominic Scelzi plans to complete this year in the 360 Sprint Car, and hopefully move up into the 410 Sprint Car class for much of next year.
Dominic went directly to the Jr. Sprint class where he raced for another three years, moving up into the Restricted 600 class where he acquired a total of 18 feature wins, plus the track championship at Plaza Park Raceway in Visalia, CA.
Although living much of his childhood on the road, the Fresno, CA native – now 12 years old – moved into the Super 600 class where – at the age of 12 – racked up an impressive 24 feature wins and the track championship at Lemoore Raceway. Currently, Dominic still competes in the Super 600 class but focuses mainly on his 360 Sprint Car. The plan is to complete this year in the 360 Sprint Car, and hopefully move up into the 410 Sprint Car class for much of next year.
When it came to choosing K&N for his cars, Dominic said, “My dad used K&N products on my GoKart in 2003, and has continued to use K&N products ever since. The reusable air filters keep the motors clean so they will last longer.”

Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8L K&N Replacement Air Filter
Hyundai has always produced solid, competent cars, however most new models come off like just another calculated move to keep pace with the competition. With the introduction of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8-liter that all goes out the window. This Hyundai Genesis Coupe ranks as the second most powerful six-cylinder, rear-wheel-drive coupe in its class, and cynical gear-heads must now all agree that the Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8-liter is without a doubt the most interesting car that Hyundai produces.
First introduced three years ago from a shortened rear-wheel-drive sedan platform, Hyundai's first Genesis Coupe was fun to drive, but it came up short on street sophistication and the base turbocharged four-banger was a tad under impressive. For 2013 Hyundai has given the coupe a striking facelift, featuring a handsomely revised body styling and improved interior materials, not to mention a new direct-injected version of the 3.8-liter V6.
K&N Performance Air Filter for Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Hyundai has improved the Genesis Coupe's base 2.0-liter, port-injected four with a new twin-scroll turbocharger and a larger intercooler. Horsepower jumps from 210 to a vigorous 274. With its thoroughly efficient six-speed manual transmission the new coupe reaches 60 mph in 5.9 seconds, and covers the quarter-mile in 14.4 seconds.
Now, thanks to K&N's new 33-2481 high performance air filter, you can make Hyundai's most interesting model even more exciting. By merely upgrading the OE air filter with a K&N 33-2481 reusable air filter, you can at once improve the overall performance of the new 3.8-liter mill, while also insuring excellent air filtration and engine protection.
Engineered to increase both horsepower and torque, and designed to simply drop into your existing factory air box, the K&N 33-2481 reusable air filter will be the last and only air filter you'll ever need to buy for your 2013 to 2016 Hyundai Genesis Coupe - plus you have K&N's well-known Million Mile Limited Warranty to back that claim. It takes only minutes to remove the factory installed air filter and to replace it with the new K&N air filter upgrade and to experience the added performance benefits.
Depending on your driving conditions, servicing intervals can go up to 50,000 miles before cleaning is necessary, and cleaning the filter is as simple as following the four easy cleaning steps on a K&N Recharger Kit (part no. 99-5000).
The K&N 33-2481 performance air filter fits the following vehicle:
2016 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8L V6
2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8L V6
2014 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8L V6
2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8L V6

K&N Replacement Air Filter for Mazda Mazdaspeed3 SkyActiv, 6 and CX-5
It's a concise excerpt that embodies the automakers' succinct slogan, being that very few other sub-$25,000 cars provide near as much Zoom Zoom for the buck as the Mazda 3. 2012 was the first year that Mazda offered up the fuel-sipping, high-compression SkyActiv engine. The 2.0-litre mill produced 155 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, and sent power to the front wheels via a choice of two SkyActiv transmissions developed exclusively for the car, a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. There was also an optional 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve power-plant that was a bit punchier and produced 167 ponies.
K&N's 99-5000 Air Filter Recharger Kit
With 2016 models now hitting the streets like the Mazda CX-5, Mazda 6 and the Mazda 3, which is popular in Colombia and much of South America as well as Europe, K&N offers a performance improvement with the effortless act of a K&N high flow air filter upgrade. By simply upgrading the OE air filter with a K&N 33-2480 reusable air filter, you can instantly improve the overall performance of both engines, while also ensuring excellent air filtration and engine protection.
If you own a 2012 through 2016 Mazda 3, Mazda 6 and the Mazda CX-5 with a 2.2 liter diesel engine the K&N 33-3024 may be what you need to extra performance and engine protection. See vehicle application details below.
Engineered to enhance both horsepower and torque, and designed to drop into your existing factory air box, a K&N reusable air filter will be the last air filter you'll ever need to buy for your Mazda - you have K&N's famous Million Mile Limited Warranty to support that claim. It takes less than five minutes to release the two securing clips on the Mazda air-box, remove the factory installed air filter, and replace it with the new K&N air filter upgrade. That's all it takes to boost performance and your engine's defense against grime and restriction with K&N.

Modified Kart racer Brooke Kawell’s new tires are a step in the right winning direction.
There are a couple of common threads that run through the fabric of talented, up-and-coming, motorsports stars. First, they are nearly always bitten by the race bug early on in life, for Brooke Kawell it was go-karts at age five, then Trophy Kart Jr 1 events, and now 2013 marks her third year racing Modified Karts.
Brooke Kawell plans to use the experience gained over the past two years to make her third Modified Kart season the best yet.
Another common denominator is racing pedigree, and Kawell’s bloodline runs rich with spirited DNA, her grandfather raced Sprint Cars and off-road vehicles, and her father was a motocross racer and a three-time Baja 1000 winner. With her physical racing foundation solidly intact, 14-year-old Kawell is now determined to shrink the competitive mental curve. And the straight-A, homeschooled, driver possesses all the tools to get that done as well.
“Last season I learned that getting a good qualifying position and a good start and staying consistent is the key,” Kawell said, “So I am going to apply that more this 2013 season. My race goals are to start getting podium finishes and get a championship in my Modified Kart.”
Brooke Kawell’s dog Idey likes racing nearly as much as her walks.
Kawell kicked off her 2013 season in precisely the right direction toward achieving those goals, as he reached the podium in the first round of the Southern California Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series at Glen Helen (LORORS), a subdivision of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS).
Brooke Kawell kicked off 2013 by winning the LORORS event at Glen Helen.
“I am heading out next weekend to Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Arizona for the Lucas Oil Off Road series which is our national level,” said Kawell. She will take on 2013 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series in her K&N sponsored No. 508 Modified Trophy Kart.
“Looking back on my favorite highlight of the 2012 season would have to be when I finished in 4th at Las Vegas Motor speedway in the LOORRS’ national series.” She in fact cites that near podium finish as her proudest race moment so far.
When she’s not racing she’s just a regular teenager that goes for runs, walks her dog and hangs out with her family. “I also love to go for long rides on my road bike,” she adds, “It’s fun and a good way to train.” So how does she feel about being such a young female driver in a sport dominated by men? “It's no biggie! I put my shoes on the same way they do, one shoe at a time. I'm just another racer on the track.”
In pursuit of Brooke Kawell Racing’s chase for the 2013 championship only a few slight changes needed to be made to her kart. “There are a few new things that we have done to my Modified Kart,” says Kawell. “We are trying new tires and they seem to be a step in the right direction. I am still running my Honda's TRX450 motor. But, along with my continuing support from K&N, I have a lot of great new and current sponsor support and I am coming out with confidence and hoping to use my experience from my past season's to make a better season.”

Brian Brown’s goal is to stay focused on the moment and to take one race at a time
“Anytime you’re on the podium with the outlaws, especially at a track you're not used to, is great,” stated Brian Brown speaking about his third place finish in the 2013 debut with the World of Outlaws at Tucson. “They are the best in the world and to be on the podium is great for this team. I'm really proud of the way everyone on this team is working together.”
Arizona motorsport enthusiasts are some of the most loyal and knowledgeable fans anywhere in the country, and they have been really patient. The last time the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars competed at Tucson International Raceway was 2007. But the wait turned out to be well worth it with the return of the Wildcat Shootout on Saturday, March 9. During a spectacular night of racing, on a new lightning fast clay surface, 19 of the STP Sprint Cars eclipsed the track record set back in ’07.
Brain Brown and his Racing team are anticipating a successful 2013 race season
“We have been very happy with our car and team to start the 2013 season. Getting off on the right foot is always key to a new season,” Brown said. “We really didn't know what to expect getting back on Hoosiers. They changed the construction of the tires a little bit. We qualified really well on Wednesday (in Vegas where he went on to finish 6th).”
“I think the real key for us right now is Charlie Garrett engines. Being on his team is like getting drafted by the Yankees, and it has shown at these Outlaw shows. Charlie really has our engines running great and when you qualify, a lot of emphasis is on the engine. We are lucky to have him on our team.”
Brian Brown, Inc. had a win earlier in the year at Tucson with ASCS, which clearly helped him get things started on the right note, as he was third quick in Tucson on Saturday. “It was probably the best car we've had in a long, long time,” Brown added. “We went out for hot laps and we were under the track record.”
Last season Brown and his team has had ten wins, 37 top-3 finishes, 48 top-five finishes and 59 top-10 finishes. As one of the hardest working men in Sprint Car racing, Brown understands the overriding significance of reaching the podium with the Outlaws after his first race, and jump starting his season with a reasonable amount of confidence.
“Our goals are to win races and to compete for wins every night that we race. If we can do that, the wins will rack up.” Summing up what Brown’s long and short term goals are for the 2013 season.
