2013-2016 KTM Duke 690 K&N KT-6912 Air Filter is Designed to Increase Performance

2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 KTM Duke 690 K&N KT-6912 replacement air filter

The K&N KT-6912 replacement air filter is designed to increase horsepower and torque, as well as serving as a direct replacement for the factory 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 KTM Duke 690 disposable air filter

If you hear the thumping tone of a single-cylinder motorcycle, you'd probably think it was a dirt bike. With the KTM Duke 690 though, it's a different story. The Duke is a big-bore streetfighter that sparingly sips fuel while blazing through bending backroads. It follows an efficient less is more mantra with one cylinder; no fairings and a slim 337 pound curb weight. Even with fewer cylinders than comparably-sized competitors, it's no slouch in the power department with over 60 horsepower. Efficiency and power, two traits of the Duke 690, are also synonymous with a K&N replacement motorcycle air filter.

The KT-6912 K&N Duke 690 replacement air filter is designed to increase horsepower and acceleration. Its roots trace back to 1969 when Ken Johnson and Norm McDonald developed the first K&N air filter for their off-road racing motorcycles. The core of the filter is K&N's renowned oiled cotton gauze filter media which helps to minimize restriction in the airflow pathway. Less restriction means a big single-cylinder motorcycle, like the 2013-2016 KTM Duke 690, can breathe easier and develop more power. The K&N 2013-2016 KTM Duke replacement air filter provides outstanding filtration and engine protection, while the precision urethane sealing lip creates an air-tight seal in the factory air box.

Another benefit of the KT-6912 K&N replacement air filter design is that it's washable and reusable. As the Duke 690 thrives with just one cylinder, so can your pocketbook by not having to replace disposable air filters over and over again. Simply service the K&N 2013-2016 Duke 690 replacement air filter with a K&N Recharger air filter service kit, the simple step-by-step instructions, and it will perform virtually like new.

The KT-6912 replacement air filter is an easy-to-install performance upgrade for the KTM Duke models listed below. K&N backs this filter with a 10-year/million mile limited warranty so owners can be confident that their filter is covered for many twisty roads and track days to come. Increase both the power and efficiency of your 2013, 2014, 2015 or 2016 KTM Duke 690 with a K&N replacement air filter. Order yours today at KNFilters.com or find a dealer in your area using the K&N Dealer Search.

By simply swapping your factory disposable air filter for a K&N replacement performance air filter, KTM Duke 690 models listed below can receive a simple to install increase in performance and excellent engine protection.

Hogie Shine 1930 Model A & 1953 Ford COE Hauler Possibly Coolest at 2015 SEMA Show

Hogie Shine 1930 Model-A and 1953 Ford COE

Dan Hogan of Hogie Shine Paint Body Fab in Phoenix, Arizona brought perhaps the coolest vehicle combo to the 2015 SEMA Show with the Hogie Shine 1930 Model-A and 1953 Ford COE

Over the last few years the traditional Hot Rod Model-T Ford, or the classic 1932 Ford "Deuce Coupe" has found itself displaced in certain crowds by the increasingly popular "Rat Rod". The Rat Rod is a counter-cultural movement to the high-priced custom Rods that have become little more than a rich man's trophy piece. Sure the Rods being built by guys like Chip Foose, or Boyd Coddington are works of art, but who can afford them, let alone risk driving them? Hence the Rat Rod movement was born with cars built according to the owner's abilities, budget, and of course with the intention of actually being driven. The biker, greaser, rockabilly, psychobilly, and punk sub-cultures are often credited with influencing rat rodding.

Hogie Shine 1930 Ford Model-A Coupe at SEMA

The Hogie Shine 1930 Ford Model-A Coupe body has been chopped 6-inches and channeled so that it sits low on a custom hand built chassis, I-beam front end, and 3-link rear

This doesn't mean, however, that a Rat Rod is no more than a bunch of junk parts thrown together. No, in fact, a Rat Rod should be an over the top reinterpretation of late 1940's to early 1950's hot rodding style that includes cultural elements of music, clothing, hairstyles, and tattoos. Loud, low, chopped, giant rear tires, multiple carburetors and open pipes should all be part of a well-executed Rat Rod build. Enter into the ring, Dan Hogan of Hogie Shine Paint Body Fab based out of Phoenix, Arizona. Dan Hogan has been painting cars for the last eight years, and branched off into his own shop about 2-1/2 years ago. Most of the work that Hogie Shine performs is the average paint and body collision repair kind of work. But that didn't stop Dan from building his own Rat Rod in the evenings after a long day at work.

Hogie Shine 1930 Ford Model-A Coupe with a Ford 351 Cleveland engine at SEMA

A Ford 351 Cleveland engine propels the Hogie Shine Rod down the road and sitting atop that engine in the 1950's Cadillac air cleaner is K&N air filter, part number E-1690

The Hogie Shine 1930 Ford Model A was built around 4 years ago, and took Dan over a year to complete. The Model-A Coupe body has been chopped 6-inches and channeled so that it sits on a custom hand built chassis. The Hogie Shine rod rides on a traditional I-Beam front end that has been drilled and chromed. Out back though, a fully dimple died and trussed Ford 9-inch rear end connects to the car via a custom rear 3-link setup using Fox coil over shocks. 1940 "Juice Brakes", a popular hydraulic brake conversion for Rodders, have been rebuilt, chromed, and fitted to the Hogie Shine Rat Rod to provide much needed improved stopping power over the original units.

Custom upholstery, custom sheet metal interior, and the beautiful black and Scion Xb gold patina paint scheme of the Hogie Shine Rat Rod.

One of the most identifying features of the Hogie Shine Rat Rod is the custom upholstery, custom sheet metal interior, and the beautiful black and Scion Xb gold patina paint scheme

That extra stopping power is important because a Ford 351 Cleveland engine propels the Hogie Shine Rod down the road. Sitting atop Ford's top performing small block from 1970 to 1974 is a 1950's style Cadillac air cleaner/scoop combination. Inside this air cleaner is none other than a world famous K&N air filter, part number E-1690. Custom built headers covered in exhaust wrap helps the Ford 351-C exhale. 15-inch American Racing Astro Supreme style wheels wrapped in vintage style Coker Tires white walls connect the 351 Cleveland's power to the ground.

K&N air filter and oil filter on the Hogie Shine Rat Rod

Dan Hogan relies on the superior airflow and superior performance of K&N air filters, as well as K&N oil filters, to keep the Hogie Shine Rod and Hauler running at their best

One of the most identifying features of the Hogie Shine Rat Rod is the custom upholstery, custom sheet metal interior, and the beautiful black and Scion Xb gold patina paint scheme. So when it came time for Dan Hogan to build his next project, it was decided that he would build them as a matching set. Due to the increasing popularity of vintage Cab Over Engine (COE) trucks, Dan decided to build a 1953 Ford COE capable of not only hauling the Hogie Shine Rod, but looking just as good. The Hogie Shine Hauler was built in time to debut at the 2015 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. On the outside the truck is painted to match the striking black and gold patina paint job of the Model-A. But it's what lies underneath the cab, full custom sheet metal tilt bed, and stained wood bed floor that will really amaze those in the know.

Hogie Shine Rat Rod loaded onto the Hogie Shine Hauler's functional stained wood floor tilt bed

A 5,000 lbs. winch and Optima battery ensures the Hogie Shine Rat Rod can be easily loaded onto the Hogie Shine Hauler's functional stained wood floor tilt bed

The Hogie Shine Hauler features a 1953 Ford COE body mounted to a modern Dodge chassis. The Dodge chassis rides on full air bag suspension and features a custom rear four link suspension setup. Rolling stock consists of custom cut 22.5-inch Alcoa wheels milled down to 22 inches with the holes cut larger. Dan used 8 to 10 lug adapters to fit the Alcoa wheels to the Dodge running gear. The Hauler is powered by a 12-Valve Cummins diesel engine which breathes through a custom air intake system using K&N air filter RF-1007. The Cummins diesel engine releases spent gasses through dual 6-inch chrome stacks. A 5,000 lbs. winch and Optima battery ensures the Hogie Shine Rat Rod can be easily loaded onto the Hauler's functional tilt bed.

If you live in the South West United States there is a good chance you might see the Hogie Shine Rod and Hauler at some point. After driving the truck home from the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada to Phoenix, Arizona, Dan will have the vehicles on display outside of his busy North Phoenix shop on a daily basis. Additionally, he has a full schedule of projected late 2015 and 2016 car shows he will attend. Dan Hogan relies on the superior airflow and superior performance of K&N air filters, as well as K&N oil filters, to keep the Hogie Shine Rod and Hauler running at their best. 2015 Ford F150 3.5L Bink Boost by Bink Designs Hits 2015 SEMA Show Floor Pre-Running

The Brian Binkert, and Bink Designs, 2015 Ford F150 EcoBoost Prerunner

The Brian Binkert, and Bink Designs, 2015 Ford F150 EcoBoost Prerunner aptly named Bink Boost was featured in the General Tire SEMA Show booth outside the Las Vegas Convention Center

Bink Designs is a graphic design company started by Brian Binkert in 2003 and based in the San Diego, California suburb of El Cajon, California. While Brian was exposed to the automotive drag race and car show scenes at an early age, his real passion is found in the excitement of off-road racing and the majestic beauty of the desert. Brian’s formal areas of study included graphic design, website design and filmmaking. However, while at an off-road race, he borrowed a still camera from a friend and discovered he excelled at shooting photos as well. Since then Brian's photos can be found worldwide on many automotive publications, commercial print & web ads.

The Brian Binkert, and Bink Designs, 2015 Ford F150 EcoBoost Prerunner

5 Bink Designs spent 5 months building a 2015 Ford F150 3.5L EcoBoost to create a truck that was able to be driven daily, flashy enough to show, and rugged enough for prerunning

Being both a car guy and a designer certainly has its advantages when it comes time to build a custom vehicle. Before the "Bink Boost" F150, Brian had added his personal touch to a fully customized Ford Ranger, Ford Bronco, and a Chevy Tahoe. However, 5 months of 2015 were spent tearing down and rebuilding a 2015 Ford F150 3.5L EcoBoost with the goal of creating a truck that is able to be driven daily, flashy enough to show, and still be rugged enough to handle prerunning the rugged terrain of the Baja peninsula. Brian describes the 5 months it took to build the truck as his least favorite part of the build, stating "With it being a new body style it took much longer than anticipated because many things were developed using our truck for future production."

Baja Kits a-arm and spindle suspension system

A Baja Kits a-arm and spindle suspension system provides 15" of wheel travel while Fox coilover shocks, Fox triple bypass shocks, and Fox bump stops handle whatever life throws at the truck

All delays aside, the 2015 Ford F150 "Bink Boost" prerunner turned out pretty amazing and features some cutting edge, and brand new to the market, aftermarket modifications. Brian said his favorite part of the build is "the cantilever rear suspension system that Baja Kits designed for us, as we are able to utilize all of the bed space without losing performance." The performance that Brian referenced is the 15" of wheel travel in both the front and rear of the Bink Boost F150. Baja Kits suspends both the front and rear of the truck with an A-Arm and spindle suspension system up front. Fox Coilovers, Fox Triple Bypass Shocks, and custom Atlas Suspension springs soak up speed bumps or whoops equally well.

Baja Kits cantilever rear suspension that allows full use of the bed without sacrificing rear suspension travel

Brian Binkert’s favorite part of the 2015 Ford F150 Bink Boost prerunner is the Baja Kits cantilever rear suspension that allows full use of the bed without sacrificing rear suspension travel

Ford EcoBoost engines, like the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 found in the Bink Boost prerunner, are designed to deliver horsepower and torque numbers on par with larger naturally aspirated engines while promising better fuel economy and reduced greenhouse gasses. The 2015 Ford F150 3.5L EcoBoost engine is just a few ponies shy of the larger 5.0L V8 Coyote Motor, but with the help of a few aftermarket upgrades the Bink Boost F150 can leave a V8 powered truck in its dust, both figuratively and literally. By adding a K&N air intake system, Magnaflow Exhaust, and a Superchips programmer the Bink Boost F150 pushes 400 HP through a 6-speed transmission connected to a Ford Raptor rear end housing and ARB differential.

Many additional modifications to the interior, exterior and even audio system were done to make the Bink Boost F150 just as comfortable on the highway as it is in a sandy desert wash. A full list of modifications is below:

Hank Robinson of Hanro Studios Leaves His Mark on the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas

Hank Robinson served 9-1/2 years in the United States Army Infantry

Prior to starting Hanro Studios in 2011, Hank Robinson served 9-1/2 years in the United States Army Infantry, serving overseas with deployments in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan

In a classical sense, many consider artists to be those who work with traditional media such as oil on canvas, sculptures carved from stone, or even something more contemporary such as photography. Unfortunately most artists whose work falls into a customary form of art tend to personify the over romanticized idea of a starving artist. However, instead of waiting tables to get by, many artists have found an outlet to express their creativeness in ways that can actually be used to make a living. Photography, while very hard to break into, can be one of these outlets, graphic design is definitely another practical applied art; and then there is Hank Robinson who has literally carved out his own niche.

Hank Robinson started Hanro Studios out of his garage

Hank Robinson started Hanro Studios out of his garage and at first he mostly engraved signs and plaques with an emphasis on memorializing those who have served in the U.S. armed forces

Prior to 2011 Hank Robinson served 9-1/2 years in the United States Army Infantry. Hank served overseas with deployments in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. After retiring from the U.S. Army Hank soon discovered his true calling. As Hank told the story, while completing a project in a metal working class he found out that he is extremely skilled at engraving. Following that epiphany Hank started Hanro Studios out of his garage. At first his time was spent engraving signs and plaques for friends or family. As word spread Hanro Studios expanded and is now situated in a 16,000 square foot building that is shared with Troy Buck of FX Auto Body. This collaboration allows the two partners to work on projects that blend Hank’s engraving with paint and airbrush.

Hank Robinson showcases his talents at 2015 SEMA

By partnering with automotive aftermarket companies Hank has been able to showcase his talents in front of thousands in attendance at the 2015 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada

In 2014 Hanro Studios became sponsored by Dremel, best known for its famous rotary tools, and which Hank now uses exclusively in his engravings. Hank’s talent, combined with Dremel tools, has allowed him to take Hanro Studios to the next level. Hank works on everything from custom motorcycles, to home décor with an emphasis on memorializing the men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces. While engraving parts of a car, or motorcycle, isn’t necessarily ground breaking, its Hank’s work on engraving the body of a car that sets him apart from his peers. Hank’s personal ride, a 2014 Ram 1500 Pickup, features engraving on the hood, tailgate, Peragon bed cover, Velocity wheels, and etching on the rear glass; which was all created freehand using a Dremel tool.

2015 has been a breakthrough year for Hank and Hanro Studios. By partnering with automotive aftermarket companies Hank has been able to show case his talents in front of thousands in attendance at the 2015 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Each year, the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) presents an enormous trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Las Vegas Convention Center. While the annual SEMA show is meant to bring the industry together to do business it has also become a vacation destination. As if there wasn’t already plenty to do and see in Las Vegas, Nevada, the SEMA show gathers the finest examples of custom vehicles, industry giants, and celebrities into an area of approximately 3.2 million square feet.

Hank said "Dremel has sponsored me since 2014. They have been nothing but supportive and motivating me to keep reaching the next level." For the 2015 SEMA show Hank was able to showcase his talents at the SEMA Show with two live engraving sessions in the Gibson Exhaust SEMA booth. Additionally, Hank’s personal 2014 Ram 1500 Pickup was placed in the high-profile Velocity Wheels SEMA Show Booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center Lower South Hall. Hank’s daily driver was positioned among high-dollar Italian exotics and ultra-premium British luxury cars fitted with the latest sizes and styles of custom wheels. Even with these other vehicles putting up a fierce fight to gain the attention of SEMA Show attendees, Hank’s daily driver, a domestic pickup truck, stood out from the crowd. His truck is named "A Warrior’s Chariot" and it has been engraved with a Viking/Norse warrior theme.

"While building my truck I have had the opportunity to work with some fantastic companies such as K&N Filters," said Hank. "I engraved my K&N air intake tube to match the Viking/Norse theme of ‘A Warriors Chariot’ and have been given the opportunity to have my engravings showcased by numerous companies in their booths during the 2015 SEMA Show." More information on Hanro Studios, as well as the ability to contact Hank, can be found on the hanrostudios.com website. Stay tuned for a well-made video featuring Hank Robinson engraving the Peragon Truck Bed Cover and etched back window of his 2014 Ram 1500.
