Short Ram Intake System 69-5313TS from K&N Air Filters is designed to increase acceleration for 2014-2016 Kia Soul models with the 2.0-liter NU MPI L4 engine

The Kia Soul was made popular by the award winning “A new way to roll” advertising campaign featuring a car full of hamsters breaking free of the rat race by choosing to roll in a Soul. Perhaps one of the most memorable commercials from this advertising campaign was aired during the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA’s) and featured the song “Party Rock Anthem” by the group LMFAO.

Despite the implications of the “A new way to roll” ad campaign, the 2014-2016 Kia soul isn’t powered by a hamster running on a wheel. In fact, the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Kia Soul has an optional 2.0-liter NU MPI engine that packs 162 ponies under the hood. 162 horsepower is respectable, but reducing air intake restriction can help this engine perform even better. Owners seeking some extra boost in the power department can now install the 69-5313TS K&N performance short ram intake system. By replacing the maze of air ducting, stock air filter box, and disposable car air filters, K&N intake systems are able to reduce restriction and increase power.

69-5313TS from K&N is precision-engineered to be a simple-to-install performance add-on. The backbone of this intake system is a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube which helps to minimize restriction, allowing your engine to breathe easier. The larger than stock intake tube is mated to the original equipment throttle body with a reinforced stepped coupler. A durable silver color powder coated finish is applied to the tube, providing an attractive appearance under the hood that will look great for years to come.

An otherwise stock 2014 Kia Soul 2.0 gained an estimated 5.35 horsepower and 5.42 lb-ft of torque with a K&N Air Filters short ram intake system number 69-5313TS

An otherwise stock 2014 Kia Soul 2.0 gained an estimated 5.35 horsepower and 5.42 lb-ft of torque with a K&N Air Filters short ram intake system number 69-5313TS

K&N equips the 69-5313TS with the oversized RU-4600 reusable air filter, providing a large surface to help increase airflow without sacrificing engine protection. The reusable air filter is made with K&N’s famous high-flow filter media so it’s a washable and reusable air filter that can go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. A heat shield shrouds the air filter under the hood, helping to deflect engine heat away from air entering the short ram intake.

All of the design features of the 69-5313TS performance short ram air intake system work in harmony to deliver increased performance. On the dyno, 69-5313TS produced an estimated additional 5.35 horsepower at 5852 rpm and an equally beneficial 5.42 pound-feet of torque at 4726 rpm over the factory air filter box system when installed on an otherwise stock 2014-2016 Kia Soul with the 2.0-liter NU MPI engine.

The 69-5313TS short ram air intake system is an excellent upgrade for a 2014, 2015 and 2016 Kia Soul with the 2.0-liter NU MPI engine. With simple to follow instructions and no need to make any other modifications to the vehicle, even a Party Rock Hamster can appreciate a new way to roll their Kia Soul.

If all that weren’t enough, K&N backs the 69-5313TS with the industry-leading K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty®. If you’re looking to put a few more ponies under the hood of a 2014-2016 Kia Soul with the 2.0-liter NU MPI engine, look no further than the 69-5313TS Typhoon short ram intake system. K&N Air Intake System 69-5313TS is designed to provide a lifetime of increased power on the following Kia Soul models:

2016 Kia Soul 2.0L
2015 Kia Soul 2.0L
2014 Kia Soul 2.0L

Team USA Led By Billy Hamill Finishes Strong in Speedway World Cup Held in Poland

Coached by former Speedway World Champion Billy Hamill, Team USA consisted of two-time world champ Greg Hancock, Ricky Wells, Gino Manzares, and 17-year-old Max Ruml

Motorcycle Speedway racing, more commonly referred to as Speedway, can trace its roots back to the 1920’s. The exact origins are unknown, but evidence shows types of Speedway racing being practiced in the United States before World War I and in Australia in the late 1910’s. Despite roots in North America and Australia, modern Speedway racing is most popular in central and northern Europe.

Team USA Coach Billy “The Bullet” Hamill is a Speedway legend with World Team Cup wins on Team USA in 1990, 1992, 1993 and 1998 with an individual world championship in 1996

Americans unfamiliar with Speedway racing might confuse the sport with AMA Grand National Championship Motorcycle Flat Track racing. However, the similarities between Speedway and Flat Track pretty much end with both types of competition being held on a dirt oval track. Speedway motorcycles are regulated by the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and must comply with a strict set of rules. Speedway bikes have no brakes and are powered by 500cc single cylinder engines, use only one gear, and burn pure methanol.

The Monster Energy Speedway World Cup (SWC) is an International competition held over the course of one week. Each team represents a country with only the top nine teams qualifying for the Monster Energy Speedway World Cup. The home country hosting the event is automatically granted a spot in the SWC. For 2014 the Monster Energy Speedway World Cup was held in Bydgoszcz, Poland with teams from Denmark, Australia, Great Britain, Sweden, the United States, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Latvia, and Italy filling the nine open spots.

Billy Hamill has been coaching Team USA since 2013 and that year the team saw its best Monster Energy Speedway World Cup finish since 1998. Billy “The Bullet” Hamill is a Speedway legend with World Team Cup wins on Team USA in 1990, 1992, 1993 and again in 1998. As an individual he won the World Championship in 1996 and is a six time USA National Champion.

For 2014 the four-rider team consisted of two-time World Speedway Champion and team captain Greg Hancock, along with three younger riders who have performed well in the U.S. Nationals and U.S. Under 21 (U21) Nationals. Ricky Wells is only 23 and already has a U.S. National Championship and two U21 U.S. Championships under his belt. Gino Manzares recently celebrated his twenty-first birthday and like Wells, he has a list of accomplishments including one Long Track U.S. National title and a U21 U.S. national title to his name. The youngest on the team is Max “Mad Max” Ruml. At only 17-years old Ruml is credited with two U21 National Championships and was chosen as a last minute replacement on Team USA due to another rider becoming injured.

Team USA started The 2014 Monster Energy Speedway World Cup in the first round event, sort of like a quarter final composed of four teams, and finished in second place behind Great Britain. Australia and Italy finished third and fourth respectively. Great Britain would automatically advance to the 2014 SWC finals, with Team USA and Australia moving to the SWC Race Off.

In the Race Off Team USA’s Greg Hancock scored an amazing 21 points, far more than any individual rider in the 2014 SWC Race Off. As a veteran of the sport and two-time World Champion, Greg Hancock’s dominance of the 2014 SWC Race Off made his country proud. However, the Monster Energy Speedway World Cup is a team event, and Hancock’s fellow Americans didn’t fare quite as well in the Race Off. Ryan Wells managed to score four points, Ruml scored just one point, and Manzares finished the Race Off without any points to his name. Team USA accrued 26 points which earned them third in the SWC Race Off and sixth overall in the 2014 Monster Energy Speedway World Cup.

While Ruml and Manzares were very hard on themselves, Hancock remained positive. “Gino and Max are a massive inspiration. They were beating themselves up in Bydgoszcz and they really don’t need to. When you get the opportunity to race for your country, you don’t want to let anybody down. They’re not letting us down. They’re doing us proud because they’re doing it for our country and they’ve got years ahead of them,” said Hancock.

Team USA’s finish secured a spot for them again in the 2015 Monster Energy Speedway World Cup. “The good thing is we’re back here next year. I’ll join these boys. Together we can go places, so I look forward to riding with them again,” said team captain Greg Hancock.

For 2014 Team USA sponsors include Monster Energy, Joker Machine, Redline Oil, American Motorcyclist Association, Hagon Shocks, Mutt Lynch’s, RF Racing, Arai helmets, Oakley goggles and Transatlantic Motorsport. Each Team USA Speedway motorcycle competing in the 2014 Monster Energy Speedway World Cup was equipped with a K&N Performance Air Filter.

Improve 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 & 3500 Cummins Diesel Performance with K&N Intake

K&N diesel air intake system, number 63-1568, includes a performance diesel air filter and a roto-molded air intake tubes for increased power without sacrificing drivability

K&N diesel air intake system, number 63-1568, includes a performance diesel air filter and a roto-molded air intake tubes for increased power without sacrificing drivability

2013-2016 Dodge Ram Cummins diesel trucks are equipped from the factory with restrictive disposable air filters housed in an innovative factory air filter box. Dodge Ram calls this new diesel air filter box technology “Ram Active Air” which is a dual-inlet type diesel air filter box with the ability to vary the source of incoming air. In normal driving conditions air is drawn from a protected source under the hood. As under hood temperatures rise, the Ram Active Air filter box switches to a sort of cold air intake system drawing air from directly behind the truck’s front grille. Ram developed this system to combat power loss in hot, dry, up-hill conditions when temperatures under the hood have been shown to climb to extreme levels.

By retaining the factory Ram Active Air filter box, 2013-2016 Dodge Ram Cummins diesel performance can be increased quickly while maintaining factory appearance

By retaining the factory Ram Active Air filter box, 2013-2016 Dodge Ram Cummins diesel performance can be increased quickly while maintaining factory appearance

K&N Air Filters has stepped in with a K&N diesel air filter and roto-molded high-density polyethylene diesel air intake tube to improve 2013-2016 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 6.7-liter Cummins diesel performance over the factory design. This diesel air filter and diesel air intake tube is packed into an all-inclusive K&N diesel air intake system 63-1568. Extensive testing was performed, and each time it was apparent that the 2013-2016 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 6.7-liter Cummins diesel equipped trucks performed better, and without sacrificing drivability, by retaining the stock Ram Active Air filter box.

On the dyno, 63-1568 produced an estimated additional 14.65 horsepower at 2500 rpm and a massive 23.86 pound-feet of torque increase at 2122 rpm over the factory diesel air intake

On the dyno, 63-1568 produced an estimated additional 14.65 horsepower at 2500 rpm and a massive 23.86 pound-feet of torque increase at 2122 rpm over the factory diesel air intake

Testing showed that the major points of Cummins 6.7L diesel performance restriction were eliminated by replacing the disposable diesel air filter with a K&N high-flow diesel air filter 33-5005, and by swapping the convoluted factory air intake tube with a new roto-molded air intake tube. K&N Air Filters was able to see a significant improvement in 2013-2016 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 6.7-liter Cummins diesel performance with increased horsepower and torque output. On the dyno, 63-1568 produced an estimated additional 14.65 horsepower at 2500 rpm and a massive 23.86 pound-feet of torque increase at 2122 rpm over the factory diesel air intake system when installed on an otherwise stock 2013 Ram 2500 6.7L Turbo Diesel.

Testing was performed on K&N diesel air filter 33-5005 showing a 99.35% overall efficiency rating to guarantee high airflow without sacrificing diesel engine protection

Testing was performed on K&N diesel air filter 33-5005 showing a 99.35% overall efficiency rating to guarantee high airflow without sacrificing diesel engine protection

K&N retained the stock diesel air filter box with Ram Active Air technology because it was evident that Dodge Ram engineers paid special attention to inlet air temperature as it travels into the 6.7-Liter Cummins Diesel engine. Cooler air promotes more efficient combustion and the ability of an engine to work efficiently is essential to maintaining peak diesel performance. The engine control unit (ECU) in a modern diesel pickup can adjust engine performance as air temperature increases forcing the engine to run more conservatively and make less power. This means diesel air filter and diesel air intake placement is important to assure proper flow, temperature, and quality of incoming air for peak diesel performance.

When K&N engineers design a diesel air filter much consideration is put into improving diesel performance without sacrificing engine protection with a K&N diesel filter. K&N diesel air filter 33-5005 is built to higher specifications than our standard automotive air filters. This K&N diesel air filter is made with 2-inch deep pleats for a large surface area and six layers of cotton to achieve high levels of filtration efficiency. K&N performs filtration efficiency testing following the internationally recognized ISO 5011 protocol to guarantee that a K&N diesel air filter will provide high airflow without sacrificing engine protection. K&N diesel air filter 33-5005 was shown to have a 99.35% overall efficiency rating.

Retaining the stock Dodge Ram Active Air filter box makes installation of K&N diesel air intake 63-1568 a breeze. With simple to follow instructions and no need to make any other modifications to the vehicle, you’ll quickly be back on the road with more horsepower and torque for hauling, towing, or every day driving.

K&N Filters sponsored Team Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing is a three rider team which fields Martin Cardenes, a Columbian rider in his second year of AMA Pro Superbike competition, Chris Clark, a 20-year-old Las Vegas, Nevada resident with four seasons of Superbike racing under his belt, and Roger Lee Hayden, brother to famed racer Tommy Hayden and former 2006 Moto GP Champion Nicky Hayden. Roger Lee Hayden was squeezed onto Team Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing late in the off-season when he was without a ride for 2014.

Roger Lee Hayden rewarded Team Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing during the double header AMA Pro Superbike race weekend at New Jersey Motorsport Park. Hayden put together a spectacular performance in the first race of the weekend by claiming his first win for the 2014 season on the rain soaked New Jersey track. Hayden was narrowly beat across the finish line by Monster Energy Graves Yamaha rider Josh Hayes. However, Hayes had been penalized for passing under a yellow caution flag which gave Hayden the win. Hayden’s win at New Jersey Motorsports Park was Suzuki’s only win of the 2014 season.

“I’m really happy with the way the season went,” Hayden said. He continued to say “We’ve been consistent and fast, and we were on the podium at just about every race. This was our first year together and I’m really proud of my team.”

Race two on Sunday at New Jersey Motorsports Park saw Josh Hayes out front of the pack once more with a nearly 2.5 second lead. However, Hayes made a mistake on lap four going off track and dropping back to third place. Hayes was able to charge his way back up to the front eventually claiming the win with Team Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing teammates Roger Lee Hayden and Martin Cardenes bringing up second and third respectively.

After the final race, pre-season title hopeful and Team Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing rider, Martin Cardenes said “This was a tough weekend. The track is very physical. I wanted to finish a little higher on the podium on Sunday but third was the best I could do. I’m very happy for me and the Yoshimura Suzuki team to finish on the box.” Cardenes made the AMA Pro Superbike podium four times this season and finished sixth overall.

Roger Lee Hayden finished out the 2014 AMA Pro Superbike season strong with five straight podium finishes barely edging past Yamaha rider Cameron Beaubier for the runner-up position in the championship points standings. “This weekend was a good way to finish the season,” said Hayden. “I rode as hard as I could, every lap. This was my first time to finish second in points, and I learned a lot this year. We can all be proud of this.”

Team Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing rider Chris Clark also experienced a breakthrough AMA Pro Superbike season this year. Clark earned his first Superbike podium position and finished fourth in the points race, just one point ahead of David Anthony. “Overall, it was a really incredible year,” said Clark. “I have to thank the whole Yoshimura Suzuki team for the opportunity to race and for providing me with a great bike like the Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000.”
