K&N is a worldwide leading performance brand; synonymous with some of the world's leading racing categories. K&N’s involvement with V8 Utes is part of its renewed focus on Australian motorsports. Richard Smith, Business Manager from K&N Engineering, Inc. is looking forward to seeing K&N filters at the front of the field.

“Ryal is the Championship leader and K&N is pleased to have the opportunity of working with the best teams and drivers in all the categories that we participate. The heritage of the K&N brand is racing and winning and we always look to support people who use our products to do this. In V8 Utes, being a production based race category, the vehicles are being asked to perform in conditions far in excess of what a regular road car performs. Thus, racers must use the best performance parts and brands, which is why most of them choose to use K&N.”

Ryal Harris is very happy to have the well-known performance air filter brand on board. "When I was a little boy, I used to draw race cars in my school books and I would always draw the K&N logo on all of them! It is such an honour to have K&N on board for the rest of the year, products carrying the K&N brand offer superior performance under racing conditions. That the parts we use in our V8 race Ute are also available for regular road cars is also very cool."

Ryal Harris and the Matt Stone Racing crew are looking forward to continued success racing in the 2015 East Coast Bullbars Australian V8 Ute Racing Series. The team’s goal is to bring home maximum points and keep the championship lead going during the remainder of the season. Ryal Harris has had to carry the 40kg success ballast as a result of leading the championship. The team hopes the weight will not slow the Ute down too much. "The weight hurt us up the hill in Perth, but we still somehow managed to come away with the win,” said Harris.

The Australian V8 Ute racing series was designed to keep costs down, and make the racing entertaining for fans. Only entrants that hold a "license to compete" and are shareholders in the Australian V8 Ute Racing Company can compete. This restricts the field to an exclusive 32 entrants. Each round is based on a three race format with race two formatted as a reverse grid which can vary depending on the number drawn from a ballot. Race three’s grid is determined by the finishing positions from race one and two.

As the exclusive oil and air filter supplier to the Series, the K&N logo will be featured on the front spoiler of all 32 V8 Ute cars. “K&N is an internationally renowned brand and to have them join the Series is testament to the strength of the V8 Ute category. We’ve been working with K&N for a number of years now, so it’s great to see the deal finally come together,” explained Category Manager, and member of Team SPHERIX Craig Denyer.

K&N engineers place filtration efficiency and dirt retention as a priority when developing a replacement air filter

K&N engineers place filtration efficiency and dirt retention as a priority when developing a replacement air filter and part number 33-3030 was shown to be 98.63% efficient overall

K&N replacement air filters are made with specially woven cotton gauze. Because cotton, by nature, is more breathable than paper, a K&N replacement air filter can flow more air than a typical paper automotive air filter. More air and less restriction for modern engines can result in a boost in performance and better acceleration. It would be false to assume that an increase in airflow with a K&N air filter comes at the expense of filtration efficiency and engine protection. K&N performs filtration efficiency testing following the internationally recognized ISO 5011 protocol with ISO coarse test dust to ensure that K&N air filters will provide high airflow without sacrificing engine protection. The K&N 2014 Honda City 1.5L petrol engine replacement air filter 33-3030 was shown to be 98.63% efficient overall when using the ISO 5011 test procedure.

K&N replacement air filters are handmade in the United States with premium components to ensure K&N air filters can be used for the life of a vehicle. The ability to wash and reuse a K&N air filter means that it will pay for itself over time. The K&N washable air filter for 2014 Honda City 1.5L i-VTEC petrol models can be washed and made like new using one of the K&N Recharger air filter service kits. After the gates dropped for the first Lucas Oil/AMA Pro MX Series moto at Budds Creek Alex Martin nearly grabbed the holeshot on his K&N equipped Yamaha YZF250

Budds Creek MX, just outside of Washington, D.C. was host to Round 6 of the Lucas Oil/AMA Pro Motocross Series. Budds Creek MX is one of the more popular tracks on the circuit with decades of Pro Motocross History and host of the 2007 Motocross of Nations. Torrential rainstorms plagued the D.C. area in the days leading up to Round 6 of the Lucas Oil/AMA Pro Motocross Series which made for a muddy and challenging track. Qualifying practice was cut to just a single session and K&N supported CycleTrader/Rock River Yamaha’s Alex Martin was 11th fastest (2:22.038) in the 250 class.

CycleTrader/Rock River Yamaha’s Alex Martin moved past RJ Hampshire on lap 2 of the 1st Lucas Oil/AMA Pro MX moto at Budds Creek to secure 1st place in the 250 class

After the gates dropped for the first moto Alex Martin nearly grabbed the holeshot on his K&N equipped Yamaha YZF250 and rounded the first lap in second position. Martin moved past RJ Hampshire on lap 2 to secure first place, and began logging some of the most consistent laps of his career at the front of the pack. Martin built a strong lead and was unchallenged throughout the majority of the race before his brother Jeremy Martin passed him with three laps to go. Alex stayed close and was able to move back into the lead on the final lap when his younger brother stalled his bike in a turn. Alex went on to take the moto win which happened to be the very first of his Pro career. It was all smiles for Martin and the entire K&N supported CycleTrader/Rock River Yamaha team as they celebrated their first victory together at the podium.

The rain continued and only made the Budds Creek MX track more difficult for 250 Moto #2. Alex Martin was 10th off the start and was able to pass up to 7th position. Martin swapped scores and tied with overall winner Marvin Musquin (7-1), but in a tie the top position is given to the rider with the best score in Moto #2. This made CycleTrader/Rock River Yamaha’s Alex Martin’s 1-7 moto finishes good enough for a 2nd overall at Round 6 of the Lucas Oil/AMA Pro Motocross Series at Budds Creek MX.

K&N’s Brad Baker Dominates Lima Half-Mile for 1st Win Of the 2015 Flat Track Season

K&N sponsored Brad Baker put together his finest performance of the 2015 AMA Pro Flat Track season when he rode his K&N filters equipped No. 6 Factory Harley-Davidson to a clean sweep in Lima, Ohio by qualifying fastest, winning his heat race, the Dash for Cash and taking first place in the GNC1 main event at the Lima Half-Mile. This was Brad Baker’s first Harley-Davidson GNC1 presented by Vance & Hines victory of 2015 and his first elite class win at the Lima, Ohio half-mile track.

The Lima, Ohio half-mile AMA Pro Flat Track event was originally scheduled to run on a Saturday, but inclement weather forced it to be pushed back a day. That Sunday's weather proved ideal, especially for Brad Baker. Henry Wiles jumped out to an early advantage in the GNC1 main event and led the first three laps before Baker got in front. On a restart due to an incident involving Jake Shoemaker, Brad Baker jumped to the lead and was never challenged for the remainder of the event. Second place went to Sammy Halbert, and Briar Bauman came home in third.

"It was an amazing race," said Baker. "From the get go, I put the hammer down. Henry (Wiles) was doing really well and keeping me on my toes the entire race. I was pretty nervous at the beginning. I switched to the awesome factory suspension and since then, everything has been working really well. Big shout out to Terry Vance and Kris Schoonover, who couldn't be here because of the weather yesterday. Great job to everybody with AMA Pro Racing, Dean Gallup and the whole Lima crew. It's been an excellent time here."

Brad Baker a 22-year-old Washington state native won the inaugural AMA Pro GNC2 Championship in 2009 and brought his career full-circle by winning the Grand National Championship in 2013. Unfortunately Baker suffered an offseason injury heading into the 2014 season and he got off to a slow start in his GNC1 title-defense campaign. After his AMA Pro Flat Track win in Lima, Ohio Brad Baker sits fourth in the Harley-Davidson GNC1 presented by Vance & Hines point standings.
