NASCAR K&N Pro Series West veteran David Mayhew had a great beginning in the Bill Schmitt Memorial 150 at Shasta Speedway in Anderson, California. Mayhew was the fastest qualifier on the 3/8 mile oval with a lap time of 15.873 seconds at 85.050 miles per hour. Mayhew won the 21 Means 21 Pole Award presented by Coors Lite for being the fast qualifier and would go on to lead the first 92 laps at Shasta Speedway. Unfortunately David Mayhew was forced to pull off the track with mechanical issues on lap 92 and James Bickford, the 2014 Sunoco Rookie of the Year, inherited the lead.

As the race wound down it seemed as if James Bickford was set to pick up his second NASCAR K&N Pro Series West win. However, Chris Eggleston patiently waited and tracked down Bickford making a late pass with 5 laps to go and captured the win. Eggleston wound up .705 seconds ahead of Bickford at the finish line and more than four seconds over the rest of the field on the .375-mile track. “I thought we were going to have to settle for second,” said Eggleston. “But I never quit. I just kept digging it with all we could. The 6 car started to slip just a little bit and it was just enough to get a run on him.”

With his win, Chris Eggleston took over the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship points lead by 12 over Gracin Raz and 15 over Noah Gragson

This was Eggleston’s third win in nine career NASCAR K&N Pro Series West starts for the 26-year-old from Erie, Colorado. He is running his first full-time season for Bill McAnally Racing. Eggleston won earlier this year at California's Irwindale Speedway. Behind James Bickford Johnny White finished third and Gracin Raz was fourth. Buddy Shepherd, 15, was fifth in his first career series start.

With his win, Chris Eggleston took over the K&N West Series championship points lead by 12 over Gracin Raz and 15 over Noah Gragson. Gragson entered the event with the points lead but ended up 16th after suffering a flat tire, while Mayhew wound up 20th. Ryan Partridge is now fourth in points and James Bickford is fifth. The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West next races on June 27 in the Carneros 200 at California's Sonoma Raceway.

The 2014 Yamaha Star XVS950 Bolt and XVS950R Bolt R-Spec motorcycles are powered by a 58-cubic-inch (942cc) air-cooled 4-stroke, V-twin, SOHC, 4-valve, fuel injected engine

In 2014 the Star Motorcycle division of Yamaha Motor U.S.A threw a wrench in the works of their competitors. There has been a shift in the motorcycle cruiser market over the last few years. Motorcycle manufacturers, like the Yamaha Star Motorcycles division, have taken notice of the growing number of younger motorcyclists seeking stylish, fun-to-ride, middle weight cruiser motorcycles. Yamaha has penetrated this market segment with the 2014 Yamaha Star XVS950 Bolt and XVS950R Bolt R-Spec motorcycles.

The 2014 Yamaha Star XVS950 Bolt and XVS950R Bolt R-Spec motorcycles are powered by a 58-cubic-inch (942cc) air-cooled 4-stroke, V-twin, SOHC, 4-valve, fuel injected engine which provides sufficient power considering the mid-size cruiser’s 540 lb wet weight. However, that’s not to say that the 2014 Yamaha Star XVS950 Bolt or XVS950R Bolt R-Spec couldn’t benefit from the addition of a few extra ponies and lb-ft of torque. A boost in power could come in handy when riding two up, or even if deciding to add saddlebags or a sissy bar bag and do some touring on the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Yamaha Bolt. In addition to the K&N stock replacement air filter, number YA-9514, K&N offers a high-performance custom open element air cleaner assembly for the 2014-2016 Yamaha Star XVS950 Bolt and XVS950R Bolt R-Spec, part number RK-3940.

K&N started by creating a custom black powder coated aluminum backing plate, with integrated velocity stacks, to provide a solid mounting surface for a world-famous K&N high-flow air filter. Included with the K&N 2014, 2015 and 2016 Yamaha Bolt aftermarket air cleaner is a custom K&N air filter E-3982 specifically designed to fit the Bolt intake and provide superior airflow as well as superior performance. Finishing off the 2014-2016 Yamaha Bolt performance air cleaner from K&N is a billet aluminum top plate, powder coated black, and sent back to the CNC machine for contrast cut reliefs and a K&N logo to let everyone know you’re running the World’s best air filter.

In addition to providing an aesthetic improvement for the 2014-2016 Yamaha Bolt and Bolt R-Spec, K&N air cleaner RK-3940 is dyno proven to increase horsepower and torque on an otherwise stock 2014, 2015 and 2016 Yamaha Bolt XVS950. K&N established baseline horsepower and torque numbers for the 2014-2016 Yamaha Bolt before upgrading the original air cleaner assembly to a K&N high-performance unit. On the dyno a 2014 Yamaha XVS950 Bolt produced an estimated additional 7.14 horsepower at 5,313 RPM and an equally beneficial 4.81 lb-ft of torque at 4,581 RPM. Like any good V-Twin cruiser engine, the 2014 Yamaha bolt produces more torque than horsepower, however with the installation of K&N performance air cleaner RK-3940 that gap becomes narrower.

Owners of 2014, 2015 and 2016 Yamaha Star XVS950 Bolt and XVS950R Bolt R-Spec motorcycles need not worry that the installation of a K&N performance air cleaner assembly will put their Japanese cruiser at risk. Significant testing was performed to ensure proper fit, function, and filtration on 2014-2016 Yamaha Star XVS950 Bolt and XVS950R Bolt R-Spec motorcycles. K&N backs the 2014-2016 Yamaha Bolt air cleaner RK-3940 with a 10-year/million mile limited warranty to give consumers confidence when buying K&N products. This Yamaha Bolt performance upgrade comes complete with all necessary mounting hardware and step by step installation instructions. Installation can be performed in almost no time flat and with commonly available hand tools. No additional modifications are needed to 2014, 2015 and 2016 Yamaha Star XVS950 Bolt and XVS950R Bolt R-Spec motorcycles to experience the enhanced performance of a K&N RK series air cleaner assembly.

K&N high-performance air cleaner RK-3940 is designed to add a boost in power and acceleration to the following Yamaha Bolt models:

2016 Yamaha XVS950 BOLT R-SPEC 942
2016 Yamaha XVS950 BOLT C-SPEC 942
2016 Yamaha XVS950 BOLT 942

Harley-Davidson Flat Track Racing and Texter Siblings Set to Make History at X Games

At the X Games Harley-Davidson Flat-Track event Cory Texter will ride the number 65

At the X Games Harley-Davidson Flat-Track event Cory Texter will ride the number 65, his father Randy Texter’s number, Racing Unlimited Kawasaki EX650

The AMA Grand National Championship racing series has a long and illustrious history fueled by early rivalries between the Harley-Davidson Motor Company and the Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company. Flat track racing is the oldest form of motorcycle racing and the Harley-Davidson Motor Company remains highly involved in the sport. Harley is currently the title sponsor of the Harley-Davidson Grand National Championship 1 (GNC1) series. K&N is also deeply rooted in motorcycle racing. Before the invention of the World’s Best Air Filter, K&N sold motorcycles, motorcycle accessories, and supported a large K&N factory race team. K&N supported some of motorcycle racing’s finest including Johnny Issics, Ralph White, Stevie Nichols, and even a three-time world motorcycle grand prix champion, “King” Kenny Roberts.

These days the GNC1 field has become more diverse with serious contenders riding Harley XR750, Kawasaki Ninja EX650, Ducati, KTM, Suzuki and for 2015 Yamaha powered twin-cylinder motorcycles. These racers must embody both intelligence and guts as they race around flat dirt oval tracks, sometimes longer than a mile, bar to bar at speeds up to 130 mph on the straightaway. Also new for 2015 is the inclusion of Harley-Davidson Flat-Track racing in the popular ESPN-fueled X Games festival of extreme sports. Also setting a precedent in X Games competition are the Texter siblings who hail from Pennsylvania. Cory Texter, age 27, and Shayna Texter, age 24, will soon be the first brother and sister tandem to be invited to the X Games in any event in its 20-year history. “There’s no other brother and sister in the world that went to X Games together. For us being the first in history, it’s definitely cool and something special that we’ll treasure forever,” said Shayna Texter.

While the Texters were born into a racing family they didn’t always have aspirations of professional racing careers on their mind. It wasn’t until 2004 when the duo began entering flat track racing with the support of their father Randy Texter. The Texter siblings soon discovered they had a talent for pitching motorcycles into flat dirt corners and began to win races. Cory turned pro in 2007 and Shayna soon followed. It wasn’t always easy for these two young racers after losing their father in 2010 due to complications from his battle with cancer. Both Cory and Shayna struggled for a while following the death of their father. The two had to lean on one another more than ever before in 2011. Cory took a year off of racing to support his sister Shayna who became the first female in AMA history to win a GNC2 Pro Singles main event in 2011.

“Shayna winning Knoxville put us on the map as a family and kick started our careers,” said Cory. Cory took on the marketing aspect of their careers while Shayna picked up a wrench and took a hands-on approach with her motorcycles. “I enjoy it a lot. I almost enjoy working on them sometimes more than I enjoy riding them,” joked Shayna Texter. Although flat-track racing is the oldest form of motorcycle racing, the sport doesn’t enjoy the fame and bright lights of other forms of motorcycle competition, like Supercross. All that could begin to change come Thursday May 4th in Austin, Texas when flat track racing is thrust in front of thousands of extreme sports fanatics. “If you told me five years ago that we would be in the X Games I would have laughed at you. It’s never been on the radar,” said Cory. “It’s a really big deal. The X Games are something everyone knows. If I tell someone I race flat-track, they often don’t know what it is. It goes in one ear and out the other.”

The first ever Harley-Davidson Flat-Track racing event of the X Games will take place Thursday May 4th at 8:30 PM. 24 invite-only flat track racers will race bar to bar on a 3/8 mile course in Austin, Texas. Different for the X Games will be the motocross-style starting gate instead of the AMA Pro Flat Track style start of gridded rows. The 24 invitees will be thinned down to a 12-person main event. At the X Games Cory Texter will ride the number 65, Randy Texter’s number, Racing Unlimited Kawasaki EX650. Shayna will be aboard the number 52 Crosley Radio Kawasaki EX650. All things aside, once the Texter siblings line up at the starting gate it will be like any other race. They will be determined to be faster than the entire field including each other. “We’re friends, we’re colleagues, we’re teammates, and we’re rivals. We’re quite the combination,” said Cory.

Scott Heckert, a 21-year-old from Ridgefield, Connecticut, earned his third NASCAR K&N Pro Series East victory in the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 at Bowman Gray Stadium. Heckert's two previous wins came last season on road-courses: New York's Watkins Glen International and Virginia International Raceway. This time however, Heckert flat out dominated on the flat quarter-mile oval track of Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Scott Heckert was quickest in practice, won the Coors Light Pole Award and led all 150 laps of the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 race. Scott Heckert proved he can master an oval just as well as a road-course, and was able to do it on one of the most historic tracks in NASCAR.

Scott Heckert's HScott Motorsports With Justin Marks teammates Dalton Sargeant and JJ Haley finished second and third, respectively. Heckert finished .579 seconds in front of Sargeant, driving one of the oldest cars in the HScott Motorsports fleet. It is a 2004 chassis that was previously driven to victory lane by such past Mike Greci-led drivers as Trevor Bayne and Ryan Truex. Greci is currently the team manager for the HScott Motorsports team.

Jay Beasley led three NASCAR Drive For Diversity drivers in the top 10 with his fourth-place finish. Gray Gaulding completed the top five. Championship points leader William Byron was involved in a spin and finished 15th. His lead, after five of 14 races is still 13 points over Austin Hill, who finished 14th, and 17 points over Kyle Benjamin. With his win, Scott Heckert moved up to fourth in points, one behind Benjamin and nine in front of Gaulding in fifth.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will return to the track on Saturday, June 20 with the Visit Hampton 175 at Langley Speedway in Hampton, Virginia.

Behind the 458 Italia is Ferrari’s then flagship 2-seater model, the 599 Fiarano. The 6.0L V12 engine produces a maximum of 612 HP, making the 599 Fiarano the most powerful series production Ferrari road car of the time. It was also, at the time of its introduction, one of the few engines whose output exceeded 100 HP per liter of displacement without any sort of forced-induction. Like the 458 Italia, this yellow 599 Fiorano rolls on Lexani Concave Series CSS-15 wheels with a custom yellow and black finish.
